I have recently grown my hair out to just past my shoulders. The hair is brown and fairly thick, all in one length, and healthy looking. Being straight, I would like some suggestions for wearing or styling my hair that would appeal to women. I'm 26 years old and work in an environment where anything goes. I'm also open to a more feminine or unisex look. Any women or men please reply.
Cool dude....my hair is now past my shoulders....if I were you..just wear it loose. Some ladies go crazy when they see a guy with long hair especially on a windy day.
And also...if you want to look sophisticated, try a slicked ponytail. Hey...it works on casual and formal events. Trust me...I've been there and I've done those.
Shannon...
sexy name too
do u have a pic...?
Hi Shannon,
I hope you are still looking at this post for ideas. I agree with Jenny's response to Paul further down that Men and Women's hair, especially for longer styles, will be more closely aligned in the future - basically this means that unisex styles will become more and more popular as in the early 1980s. For hair your length try the Rachel/Friends cut as tried by Mike_C previously, or the longer 'coupe sauvage' as shown in the picture posted by Mike in answer to my response to Paul. I am trying to get together a list of ideas for unisex styles for men which I will then be happy to post and I am open to any ideas of suitability. One other idea you may like to consider is the soft layered look worn by Farrah Fawcett-Majors in the late 70s - especially the film Logans Run. I will try and find a link or maybe you could rent the video. Again I think this would look really great on a guy. I would be inclined to stay away from too many curls or big hair, unless you particularly want that type of look - it could look too feminine or may need a lot of up-keep. If you have natural movement in your hair, stay with that (having said that I know that Farrah had the ends of her hair pin-curled to create the soft wispy bits in the style that I referred to above). Also, in general I don't think that women want to think men spend more time on their hair than they do, even though we do like it when it really looks nice and sexy.
Let us know how you get on,
Cath
Try braiding small sections of your hair at night with your hair damp. Sleep like this and then take the braids out in the morning and you will have really wavy hair but without big-hair curls - this won't look too feminine and will enahnce your long flowing locks. I do this fairly often and it looks and feels great.
