Im glad i found this place,
In highschool, i had great long hair. Was about down to my middle back... but alas in college i sold out as everyone (whether they admit it or not) do at one point in their lives... and cut it all off. Now i've had short hair for the past 3 years, and im just sick of it. Now a senior in college... its time to reclaim the long hair of which I now regret cutting off. Specially if this is the last time i can grow my hair out.. im going out with a bang!
I just measured and im at about 2 inches :-). Got a long and hard road ahead of me.. (as this is the 3rd time in my life venturing it)... but im glad i found a place that supports my behavior.
I remember the good times in junior high when i was growing out my hair for highschool... and infact i found an old picture of me...
and realized that it was time again.
Ill be around... but i would just like to thank the community for all the support i've been reading in past threads. Thanx again

... it is always nice to meet new people here. You seem to be well armed in the field of growing long hair since you have had it substantially long in the past. You will be quite helpfull to those who have never attempted it before.
My hair currently reaches around an inch below my chin in the bangs area (when pulled tight, that is). Last year I had successfully grown it to just shy of chin length and decided I needed an under-cut. BIG MISTAKE!!!! So just February of this year I started over by cutting the top back a bit (bangs about top nose level), evened it up slightly with the shorter back, and started over. I am working on roughly eight months since then and here I am, still going strong with valuable lessons learned. Stick around, bro! Peace!
So am I JS. Welcome! It is really great and the learning process never stops.
You've done it before, so it should be a piece of cake for you to do it again.........but alas, it IS such a slow process as you well know. Now that you are older you may all of a sudden discover within yourself that you are indeed a "Longhair" at heart. Anyway, which ever way you go, you can count on support on this board. Best of luck to you. Justin
That is exactly what I found myself to be. For years I have gone through a million and one hairstyles, but all on the shortish side. During those years, I also had recurring dreams in which I was a longhair. Then I would wake up and become disappointed when I realized it was only a dream. So here I am, pushing 40, with almost two years growth under my belt. I only wish I had begun 20 years ago! Can't wait till it hits the waist! Paitience is truly a virtue when it comes to growing out hair! It seems excrutiatingly slow at times, but then you reach one of the little milestones...first time behind the ears, first ponytail, etc...it makes it all worthwhile. This board has been very helpfull, too. Cheers, lads!
Yes, i know i was meant for long hair. :-) Ever since i made the decision to grow it out again, i've been happier and even waiting for the dreaded "bad hair" phase.... I used to take on things like this with no problem... not a care in the world...and when i reevaluated myself in the last few weeks... I've seen a self-conscious.. scared adult... i was horrified at how i've managed myself in the last few years.
Time to change it back. Ill be visiting often and can't wait to search the archives awhile.
