Hoping someone with more experience can help me out. I am a newbie at long hair. I have my hair down past my ears, and still growing. I have one problem though. When I wash it, I dry it with a towel, and then comb it with a wide toothed comb, and then a regular comb. It comes out nice (to me anyway!), with curls at the bottom of the hair on the sides and back. But when I start to comb it after drying it, I usually get one matted knot of hair that I can't comb out. Sometimes I let it go, today I decided to just cut it off. Is there some other way to take care of this problem? Thanks for any suggestions!
Do you use conditioner? If not, that might help. If you already do use it, then maybe you dould try a dtetangler in addition to your regular hair washing routine. Or maybe even wash it less often. It could be that your hair is too dry. Hope this helps.

You may be doing this already, but for one thing, comb it before you wash it - and always start combing from the bottom up, not from the top down.
Also, I wasn't entirely sure from the way your post was written: are you talking about the first combing after your hair is towel-dried, or a later combing after it's dried completely? Either way, you might want to just stick to the wide-tooth comb. If it's tangling after it's dry, could it be from the wind? Then you might want to tie it back or even wear a hat when you're outside.
Do you get the knots in the same place each time, or just anywhere? My hair is curlier on the left side above the ear, and when it tangles, it's usually there. If your hair is tangling in one spot, it might be easier just to keep it trimmed there, but it'd be a shame to have to keep cutting off bits all around.
