I have only recently made my decision to grow my hair long and I am already LOVING it. I'm just addicted to the feeling I'm already getting from my hair in back. I love how it keeps my neck warm and I can only imagine it will feel even better as it goes down my back. Already my hair is moving around like never before when i move around. You guys that have had long hair for awhile probably don't even notice this but for me, it is a distinct new feeling.
I've been wondering when I'd be getting my first comment about it and whether it would be at work or at church. It turns out it came at work today. A woman commented as I walked by that my hair is getting long. I said, "oh, you noticed?" and then she immediately said how good it looks. And then, as if on cue, 4 other co-workers (all women) joined the conversation and also said I'd look good with long hair and a ponytail. I had be meaning to ask one woman there how long it took her to grow hers out from a short cut to its long present state. This was a perfect opportunity and she told me about her growing out process and then undid her hair clip and let her hair cascade down. She has beautiful hair but always wears it up so I talked to her about how great it looks down.
I just feel myself smiling a lot lately for no particular reason. All I can think of is that it is from a feeling of relief - relief to finally be doing what I have always wanted to do. I'm almost 32 - what took me so long?
I know "the big confrontation" is coming soon with my church but I am preparing myself. I want to be as calm and friendly as possible. My first inclination is to get all defensive but I think it will be better in the long term to speak mildy but forcefully about my decision.
Thanks for all the support I've received.
We're with ya all the way! I'm glad you like the look, too. It won't take you long to have long hair (with the straightness of it and all).
What kind of church do you go to that they would be so judgemental over something like that?
Just curious because we have guys at our church that have long hair and it is not an issue at all.
Sorry, I want to preach when it comes to this but I will refrain :)
Take care

Jesus had long hair... i've seen photos ;) er i mean paintings and stained glass windows, etc. Jesus always has long hair in them, so point that out if anyone says anything negative, tell them you are growing your hair to be like jesus... but without the miracles and stuff.
If your church does not believe in jesus please scrap my comment... I dont want to offend anyone!
Not to mention Samson had long hair, and when he cut it he offended God and that lost him his strength, so if religious types REALLY wanna be picky then wouldnt it seem that long hair is preferrable by religions rather than short?
Maybe it is time to change churches. Years ago my church complained
about my hair being long, I found a new church really fast.
There are lots of churches out there, and if necessary there are 2,000
religions......and not one of them has the right to tell me how
long to wear my hair. ****Not one.*****
The bottom line: I answer only to God, not
some clown at church who has the nerve to tell
me how long I can have my hair.
I couldn't possibly have said that any better myself. Dang right.
Go for it, Stanley!!! It's obvious that growing your hair is something that's very important to you, so do it! You know you'll have support from us and the ladies you work with. More importantly, remember this: we woke up this morning in the United States of America, where you have the freedom to grow your hair if you want to. You don't have to worry about what others think, because if they judge you by the length of your hair instead of by your moral character then they've lost touch with what it means to be a Christian. So let it grow, my friend...do this for yourself!

Pity the rest of your rights practically evaporated with the Patriot Act :p
Stanley, Stanley, Stanley,
It felt good to feel your hapiness in this post.
Stan
Your happiness is plain for all to see and your note an inspiration to all who are doubting having long hair through external pressure.
I suggest you learn all you can about the history of beards and
long hair in the JW church. It is not doctrine but very strong
tradition, as you probably know. But JW's have also been
very strong on following their consciences so there may be hope
that you can keep your hair and your church both.
But get all the information and history you can. You can get quite
a few hits by going to Google and trying
"charles taze russell long hair"
like I said... n/t
I know your hair in front used to be longer, but has your hair ever been longer in the back before or is this a first for you?
