Hey guys, I just wanted to share this info for, hell I don't know, I just want to share it.
Today, I took my daughter to McDonald's Playland in Orange, California, for a nutritious healthy meal, uh, anyway, there was the cutest boy there about five or six and he had this great thick hair that fell down to his mid-back. He runs over to me and asks me where my daughter is and I point to her and they began playing. The lady with him told me that no matter where he is he always zeros in on the babes. I told her at 2-1/2 my daughter manages to always get a group of boys running after her. I thought she was the mom, but she said she was a friend. I told her I loved his hair and she said his dad had long hair. I was gonna turn her on to this board, but she didn't appear to be totally for the hair, but I told her that I hoped the parents would never cut it. The boy was a bit wary of heights, but somehow my daughter coaxed him into climbing way up into these tubes to the slide and they had a great time. The other kids around were playing with him and not one of them mentioned his hair. I thought that was great.
Hope I run into some more long haired boys,
Chaeya
Hey, that was a great experience. Thanks for sharing with us.
It is too bad there aren't more parents who feel they can let their young boys have long hair. Unfortunately, there is much the same pressure for parents to have their boys wear short hair as there is to adult men. (One of the excuses is that the boys will look like little girls... after all they have no facial hair at that time... so who cares!!!?). My two sons would have looked great with longer hair when they were children (in the late 70's) but my wife didn't feel comfortable with it on them, so most of the time their hair was fairly short. I did succeed for awhile and they really looked cute. Maybe now I would have been more forceful, but it still needs to be a decision of both parents.
Keep sharing things like this, it's encouraging to me and I'm sure it is to others. There may be other lonhaired guys/parents out there with small sons facing similar decisions and this could be the encouragement they need to stand for what they believe!
Chaeya,
I think long hair on little boys is so cute. My daughter has a 6 year old. He hasn't had a real hair cut yet. She has kept his hair at waist length for the last 2 years. There is a lot of pressure to cut it, but so far they plan on keeping it long. If they like it, I think it's great.
