This board has gotten away from its point. It is supposed to, as I understand it, be a forum for reasonable, normal, and truthful issues regarding men's long hair. The following, however, is a typical post from recent times, at least it seems to me.
"I have hair down to my knees that I love to wear barettes in when I wear dresses. My wife likes to curl my hair, and my 4 year old son, who has waist length hair and wears it in braids, does, too. I don't know whether to wear frilly bows or big barettes to tie my hair back, especially when I wear make-up. Does anyone have any suggestions for any feminine hairstyles I should wear when I go out? Maybe I should accent my pretty locks with some gigantic earrings, preferably some very big feminine hoops. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks."
That's not the kind of post I wish to see, or that, in my view, is in keeping with the point of this board. (Perhaps some guidance from Victor might be in order here.) Please, guys, let's keep this board on the right track. (Okay, I got that all off my chest - now I feel better.)
I was laughing my head off when I was reading this. I'm still laughing right now.
LOL!!!! It's been a while since I had a good laugh! Thanks! hehehe
But, seriously...
To a certain degree, I can definately relate. As a guy who's hair isn't at the center of his identity, and prefers to actually look like a guy, and, between the transvestite, and the "End long hair oppression!" posts, I sometimes find myself wondering why I still visit.
Now, if anyone has any good advice on where to buy high-heeled shoes... ;D
hmmm... by the sounds of that statement i ALSO wonder why you continue to visit. now, i don't think of my hair as central to my identity- rather as a part of it. i don't cross-dress and i also don't think this is the place for such posts; (my opinion, of course) but i do think the 'oppression' posts are appropriate! i am lucky enough to have gainful employment that does not require me to have a so-called 'decent' haircut... but i WILL NOT belittle those who must face arrogant bosses who think it's their mission to impose their sense of fashion onto those unlucky enough to work for them. what gives them (and you) the right to pick and choose what freedoms people are allowed to have? bully for you that you can keep your hair and work... so you are saying 'i've got mine, the hell with the rest of you'? this is a support board. if you aren't going to be supportive, then get a haircut & stop visiting.
I don't know what amazes me more: some of the posts on this board, or the fact that mine are so often misinterpretted.
Gee..... let me think.... hmmm..... could it be, perhaps.... yes, I believe it is.... they're the boss, they set the rules, and you don't own the company? Or they have been hired by the bosses (i.e. board of directors/stockholders), and have been told to do whatever is necessary to achieve the goals outlined above.
Part of the reason why I consider hair to be a different issue than, say, the issues of race, religion, culture, disability, etc., is that you can easily change your hair. Sure it may take a while to grow if you cut it, and it make take a bit of adapting to get used to having shorter hair, but it DOES NOT FUNDAMENTALLY ALTER how you think, who you are, what you believe, or other such aspects of identity (I know many of you believe that hair should not have to be cut, but even if someone snuck up on you in the middle of the night, and cut your hair without your permission, it's not going to change that belief, right? Neither is cutting it to hold a job).
No, I'm saying I'm lucky enough to have a job that lets me keep it. If they decide they want me to cut my hair, OH WELL...
I'm willing to do what it takes to support my family. I would be the same person with short hair that I am with long hair, just as, if I were to have an accident, and, for example, lost the use of an arm, I would still be the same person as I am with the use of both arms. Granted, I would have to make adjustments to how I do things, but it would not change who I am, fundamentally, as a person, or how I see myself (btw: don't ask me if I would give up my arm if a company asked it, because that's a ridiculous question. I'm using it as an example to point out that physicality and physical appearance do not equal personality and personal identity)
I'm more than willing to be supportive on many issues concerning long hair on men, but only if I feel the circumstance the individual is describing warrants it. When I first started visiting this board, most of the issues seemed to deal with ways of managing hair, styling, care, and things of that nature. It's only been fairly recently that it seems to have become more of a civil rights/activism oriented board. While I agree that people should have the freedom, legally, to wear their hair how they want, I see business (referring to the private sector) as a slightly different situation, given that businesses need to be able to do what they feel is appropriate, within reason, to maintain the image they wish to project, and profitability. I see hair as part of a dress code issue in terms of personal appearance as apposed to a civil rights issue along the lines of racial discrimination.
Just because it grows if one doesn't do anything to it doesn't necessarily give one the levity to expect a private business allow them to keep that growth.
Hellloooo?? Uh, Sure it's perfectly "normal" for a guy to be obsessed with justifying to the world that his desire to have long hair is completely normal in spite of the fact that 95% of women laugh at it, 98% of men think you are an out-of-touch clown. Hey, I love long hair, I'm a transvestite. I acknowledge that, I realize that it's a sexual thing and I don't fret about it. My long hair looks ridiculous in day to day life (as does most of the guys pictured in the galleries). I put up with that so that I can play girly more realistically.
Most of the posters here are either openly or closet gays or open or closet transvestites. Figure it out and face the facts. Which group do you fall into? There are NO real women here by the way. I could just as easily list my name as Miss Facts.
Victor's board is a great service, but let's give our heads a shake and just enjoy the posts, ignore the ones you dislike (probably like this one).
Mr. Facts (Have a nice day :)
I smell a troll.
I'm curious. Do you have long hair because you are a transvestite, or, are you a transvestite because you have long hair?
P.S. The original post is, without a doubt, the funniest I've ever seen. I'm still laughing!
As one of the many 'real women' who read this board,I also object to the use of this forum by anyone who posts off-topic.As I understand it, the whole point of this board is to offer a place of support and encouragement for men who have or want to have long hair.Whether or not they are trans-gender,cross dressers,or hair fetishists is irrelevent, as long as the post is concerning long hair.We don't need to know your sexual preferences or unconventional hobbies. If you are looking for support in your lifestyle, then I am sure a more suitable board can be found somewhere else.
Believe me,the majority of the men who frequent this board are not 'obsessed with justifying to the world their desire to have long hair'.It's just nice to have a place where you can vent a little, find some information, share experiences.
95% of most women laugh at long-haired men?? I wish! There would be more men for me! In reality quite a few women LOVE long hair on men.Aside from the fact that it's extremely sexy, it also shows a streak of individuality and confidence. That in itself is sexy.
It doesn't matter if most of the posters here are gay (which I really don't think they are) as long as the post remains on topic.
Guys...keep growing that hair and send in more pics to Victor!
PS....Anyone have a recommendation for a good conditioner for 3 ft long straight hair?
Have you ever used Mane and Tail Shampoo and Conditioner. I use it for 60 days then change to another. The beautician swears by it for short periods of time. Give it a try I know I love the results. : As one of the many 'real women' who read this board,I also object to the use of this forum by anyone who posts off-topic.As I understand it, the whole point of this board is to offer a place of support and encouragement for men who have or want to have long hair.Whether or not they are trans-gender,cross dressers,or hair fetishists is irrelevent, as long as the post is concerning long hair.We don't need to know your sexual preferences or unconventional hobbies. If you are looking for support in your lifestyle, then I am sure a more suitable board can be found somewhere else.
@@@@ HI real woman, email me and I would love to share my experience with you about the most facinating natural conditioner available, it is awesome, lets talk. BTW there is also too much cry baby activity here.

hmmm... my sentiments exactly; brace yourself for impassioned responses decrying your oppression of the cross-dressers. there are quite a few who think long hair and cross-dressing are related.
Cute, cute... yeah most of the transvestite-type posters are real idiots. Let's face it, a bunch of long-haired guys aren't a good resource for trans-anything. I mean, there isn't anything wrong with long haired transvestites coming on this board, as long as they realize that the core audience of this board are men who aren't trying to look like women, but just want long hair. No big deal. I am a crossdresser, but I'm not growing my hair long to look girly, I'm growing it long to look good. (And cause my fiancee likes long haired men.) The fact that I don't have to wear a wig when dressed as a woman is just a bonus. The fact is 95% of the time I'm just a normal guy, and I want long hair.
Of course, most of this you should just chalk up to the madness of the net, where even the most moronic person's dumb ideas get their 15 minutes of flame.

I don't think it is so much as "transvestites" on the board (no offence), but it seems like a bunch of fakers and joke artists have raided the board. I know we have freedom of speech, but I hope in the future more people will actually write something useful and suggest something useful, not unrealistic situations or things none of us will ever get a chance to experience in our lifetimes.
Okay, here's my two cents.
I don't know what everyone is getting their long hair so bristled about. I'm getting my hair bristled about all the prejudices going on here. Yeah, this board is about long hair and I would say that 90% of the posts on this board IS related to hair. I admit that lately there have been some "frilly ribbon wearing guys" and "2 yr. old kids stepping on their waste-length hair (hell my daughter's 3 and just now getting to her neck-length hair." I admit that I am one of the ones to respond to I think one of the transvestite thingies, but there have been a number of posts from time to time that have gone off topic and no one said a thing. There have been some guy cruising and girl seeking long hair guys cruising, and so on and no one said anything.
I also want to say is I don't think people are really reading what is being said in some of the posts. They zero in on the one thing they find offensive and fly off the handle and then type down some sarcastic answer to get a laugh themselves. If these people are truly offending you then DON'T RESPOND. Its the negative responses that gratify them. The ones I have wont to respond to I have and the ones I find utterly ridiculous, I don't. It's simple. I really don't care if anyone doesn't agree with my posts or not, and I don't care if people think I'm a weirdo. I have always responded respectfully to each and every person on this board whether I have agreed with them or not. I have not personally slammed them. If some of the posts that I have responded to have been bogus, then oh well, shit happens and I'm the goof for the moment. I'll get over it.
As far as the person saying that there are NO real women on this board has a lot of nerve. I have not come on this board man bashing. I have given you guys nothing but support for what you're doing in every way. You want to be accepted for your long hair by your friends and so forth but its okay for you to come on this board and insult the many a real women here who have given you nothing but support.
Perhaps I was just naive to think that a group of people who are apt to be discriminated against by society would be a bit different as to their tolerance of other peoples.
Chaeya
Get off the soap box.
I find it interesting that most of these people won't use their real name when posting something negative, so what does that say?
Fine, I'm off.
