hi guys,
i need help with something. Usually when I step out of the shower, i part my hair in the middle so I can comb the left side and the right side of my hair. however, the right side is the hardest to comb compared to the left side. any suggestions as to why this happens? i use conditioner all the time since the weather here is always humid and i know how it can mess up your hair. and also, im scheduled to have an interview with our university's Education dept. I believe I have to wear the dreaded sports jacket, sweater, and slacks look. should i just slick my hair back with gel and ponytail it or should i brush it up and spray it so it'll be out of my face and remain neat without tying it. any suggestions? pls. DO NOT SUGGEST PRETTY RIBBONS!
I suggest non-pretty ribbons.
Ponytails are socially acceptable. They show your "artistic" side. Keep it neat and you won't offend anyone.

Hi Ninja,
I don't think you will have any trouble with a ponytail with the education department. Slick your hair back and get one of the thick black bands as opposed to a plain rubber band. They're just plain black elastic bands and a little thicker and nicer looking plus simple. If you have light colored hair you can get them in beige or off white, I think. My boyfriend wears these and he looks really professional when he wears his hair back and puts on a suit. That should do the trick. I was gonna suggest one of the Duncan MacLeod hair ties, but for an interview, they might be too fancy, you be the judge.
Good luck with your interview!

My hair is like that just because it's curlier on one side than on the other. It's easiest to comb straight down - if I try to comb it back at all, away from my face, it tangles.
I have that problem too, and I have blamed it on my being right handed. A comb in my right hand has a better (i.e., not tangling) angle when it approaches my hair on the left side, than it does on the right.
Try holding the comb at a somewhat different angle, concentrating on what angle moves smoothest through your hair. I tried that and it helped some. Another solution, if you're ambidextrous enough, is to learn to comb the right side with the left hand. After all, we all do that with our cuff links and buttons because we have no choice. So this is an option.
My hair is just over an inch (3 cm) longer on the left side than on the right. I now wonder if rougher combing and resultant damage is to blame....
