Thanks for the replies, I also got a reply from a hairdressing enquiry service that was very positive so I have decided to go ahead with having my hair singed, (which is done straight after cutting I was told by the reply service) on Monday and will let you now how the singeing was done and what the experience was like.
Still not come across anybody who has had it done. So anybody out there let me kmow please.
What is the supposed benefit of singeing? This web pages indicates it doesn't cause hair to grow faster, and causes split ends: http://groups.msn.com/PunjabGroupOfColleges/yourwebpage11.msnw
There appears to be no particuarly obvious reason for it these days. It would seem that removing split ends is one.
I certainly remember it as a kid in the 1950s - smell was awful and the hair looked crap until washed.
However it is probably worth the experience as it certainly does no harm.
Let us know how you get on - any photographs of this lost experience possible?
