I have shoulder length hair that is perfectly smooth, sleek and straight until the ends, where it becomes quite a mess, curling slightly and just appearing generally untidy.
I've not had any trims since I began growing and the hairs that are behaving this way are at several different lengths, with the layers underneath being slightly longer than the top. Do you think this is the cause of the messiness of the ends or could it just be naturally this way?
I'm considering getting an 'evening out' trim to try and clear it up, I'm not particularly worried about losing the length (should only need 1 or 2 centimetres cutting) but I'm just wondering whether it will make a difference or whether you think it will be a wasted effort?
Thanks for any input.
Although my hair is curly throughout, I had a similar problem. Most of my hair looked real good. Nice and healthy and curly. But the ends were ratty, and constantly getting into knots. My hair hangs to my waist when wet and to mid back when dry. I decided after much soul searching to trim the ends. The rattyness was fairly extensive, so I took two inches off. Let me tell you, it looks so much better and is so much easier to take care of that I wish I had done it sooner.
