I have had thoughts of getting my hair cut like I have
seen on TV. Not sure what its called. Its basically long
all over except for the front pieces being kind of shorter
then the rest but feathered up. What is this called and could
it be a decent male cut?
It's called the Farrah Fawcett Look, and no, it would not be a very manly cut.
No, not that, it has no curl to it, just layered up the front.
You mean there's evidence of long hair on T.V. these days outside of the Sci-Fi Channel and Dr. Quinn reruns?
Chaeya
There's a kind (shudder) Jennifer Anniston cut that
sounds a little like what you describe. What you
have is basically a longish single length from the
crown back, with the front cut with what's
technically called vertical graduation, possibly
ending in a disconnected layer in the interior of
the cut.
Can it work on guys? I have an almost religious
disregard for gender in cuts, but without seeing
your hair, face shape, etc., I will give the
following advice (and being without "visual cues"
and seeing that free advice is worth exactly what
you pay for it) - If you have an oval face shape,
fine, if you tend toward a square face shape, you
have to be careful not to cut the graduated part
too high or you will accentuate the squareness of
your jawline and wind up with something that
rarely works.
Hope this helps,
Bobby
You might be referring to a cut called the "mullet," popular with country music singers. For some reason, this style is often derided as being the singularly worst style foisted upon humanity. Hogwash. While I don't aspire to mulletdom myself, I see no reason to villify those who like with the style. Visit the URLs below for more information.

Generally negative about the style; engaged in a perpetual "mullet hunt."

Bills itself as "mullet friendly."

I went and I saw. Well, I must admit. Hi, I'm Chaeya and I like "mullets." Hair is hair and if its even semi-long, I love it. Mullet, gullet, schwubbet. Are we going to have differences in longhair now? If its below your collar is bloody long to me. Better than that scalped rat look that's currently going on.
Mullet-lover,
Chaeya
Well said, Chaeya. Mullets are cool. Don't know what the big deal is about them. I think anti-mulletism was started by people with short hair who don't have the balls to grow it longer.
I'd beg to differ here. I'd say that anti-mulletism was started by
semi-snobbish semi-geeks who wanted something fun to make fun of that
was reasonably safe, and also something that bespoke of the great
trailer-park/Wal-Mart masses of American lower-class society. Not
great goals, but hey, some people amuse easily.
I just hate BAD hairstyles. And bad mullets are some of the nastiest
I've seen.

I understand your point, Scrappy, and please don't misunderstand my passion here because I am laughing as I'm typing this. Most of the pictures I've found on the bad mullet board were taken in the 80s! They're out of date basically. Most of these guys are now have scalped themselves in the 90s frenzy. I'm not for all mullets either, but I do like the style and the length when the hair is well kept.
And my original post, I don't mean that we all have to agree and I know we aren't, I'm just saying raising a campaign against hair from these guys' is more like there's more interesting things to debate about.
Well, I've been found out. Walmart had a great deal on baby wipes last week and I've been looking at mobile home parks. Hey, I'm happy with anything I can afford being a 3-bedroom next to the beach.

I am not one to throw stones. I shop at K-mart, and to my view,
Wal-Mart is way classier. Although much more inconvenient in my
area.
I spotted a decent looking burly wilderness looking mullet today/

Differences in long hair? Of course we are going to have them!
Indentity Longhair vs. Social Longhair
Femme Hairstyles vs. On-Topic Posters
Purple vs. Green
Mullet vs. Anti-mullet
Those who get the joke vs. Those who don't
Posters who divdide everyone into two types of people vs. those who don't
Sane people vs. Me
Just cause we are on the same board doesn't mean we have to agree.
It'd be pretty dull if we did.
