The reasons are so obvious, Jealousy comes to mind!
Ponder this!! How many mullet wearers in our society have started wars/battles like the short haired war mongers have, whether it's in business or life in general? Don't bring up wife beatings/killings either, because we know true psychos sport short hair. Just check the headlines and see for yourself. Many sites are ridiculing mullet wearers, yet the ones making fun are all sporting short hair...Makes you wonder who truly drops below sea level in the gene pool...You'll find a few mullet wearers in jail, but not near as high of a percentage as short to no hair wearers....Hitler lives among short haired people, be afraid...be very afraid!

Mullet remains a great cut. I love mine and no other cut works as well. And, I am peaceful, happy, nonviolent nice guy if I do say so myself.

Well, I have to agree that mullets are much better than the typical, boring short hair uniform most men wear. However, I still prefer long hair styled in other ways. No biggie, though; if your mullet makes you happy, then more power to you.
I certainly like mullets better than boring short hair. But they do look stupid on a lot of the people who try to wear them, when full long hair would suit them better. I'd say about 10% of mullet wearers look good with them.
But, whatever makes you happy.
Well, mullets are liked by some here but generally they don't get the best rap here either because to longhairs it seems that mullet wearers are only willing to go half-way. A little longish in the back and really short on the whole top. To keep most of the hair on your head short takes a deliberate effort consisting of a lot of haircuts. This we resist.
As you your jail point, it seems like just about every white guy on COPS who isn't a cop sports a mullet.
I am not so sure it is "Jealousy." I truly don't know what it is. A terrific Mullet done artistically with taking facial features into consideration for the most artistic look of all is nothing short of glorious! Why then the hate? Could it be some of the guys who wear it? If they are un-kempt dirty slobs (of which many abound even with short hairs) it is little wonder people have such a dislike. Taking pride in ones hair and looking clean and kempt goes a very long way.

Well playing devil's advocate here. . . . .Any long term war has to have men of brilliance (albeit misguided brilliance) leading them. Otherwise you have a massacre on one side that doesn't get into any history textbooks.

The main reason they get a bad rap in Europe, is that they went outta fashion over 10 years ago.
Long hair (I mean all over long hair) whilst it hasn't been in fashion for 30-40 years, it has always persevered at some level, so it gets a grudging acceptance.
I think the main difference is that few people consider longhairs as trying to make a fashion statement. Whereas they percieve Mullet wearers to have just simply lost touch. The perception is along the lines of: "Contrary to the world around them, a mullet wearer still believes that they are stylish."
