I was just wondering, the shorter hairs that are from regrowing folicles, either cut or have reached their terminal length, fallen out and started to grow back again. Will the shape and overall outcome of these hairs be effected if the rest of the hair is otherwise long (10 or so inches)?

Nope. Each hair lives its own life, having absolutely no awareness of nor being effected by what happens to any other hair.
I guess it really is lonely at the top.
Happy New Year everyone.

I was thinking more along the lines of the way long hair hangs etc that might change the shape of a new growing hair.

Oh yeah, individual hairs will definately "hang" together. :-)
I think it is after about 1 or 2 inches. Like in my hair, where it sections itself into spiral locks, the new hairs will be "flyaways" for about 1-2 inches, then get formed in with one of the locks and start taking its shape. Don't know about straight hair
