I was wondering, will putting hair behind your ears for a long term period (years maybe?) make the shape of the hair curve around the ears while it grows? If so, does this damage the hair after a while (make it weaker?) ?
BTW, I have mildly wavey hair, if that matters.

It might make the hair curve, but I doubt very much that this would constitute any form of damage. Anyway, you could probably get it to straighten out by just not wearing it behind your ears for a while.
I tuck mine behind my ears all the time and i've been growing it for a year and a half all it has caused me is a slight curve in my hair but its not noticable and also tucking it behind your ears shouldnt damage it at all
Depends on your own unique hair and no
I don't know about "years," but when growing my hair out and still in the "Awkward-Stage" I tucked my Bangs behind my ears until they could finally reach the Ponytail Band. I noticed no change in hair starting to curve when it finally reached the Pony-Band.
Just my thoughts: I would rather think hair has a bit of a memory so to speak..........but after a day or two of being confined one way it would revert to the way it wants to grow.
Hope this helps at least a little bit. Good Luck!
