I last visited a hairdresser just over 20 months ago. My hair is now past shoulderlength at the back, and 2 or 3 inches below my chin at the front. It hangs down to pretty much the same length all round, because I started off from a cut which was cropped at the back and nose-length at the front, and I clippered the back myself a couple of times before I decided to grow it all out.
I've been avoiding maintenance trims, because I'm nervous about having too much taken off and because any unevenness is disguised by the fact that my hair is quite wavy. However, it's looking a bit ratty and I think the time for a trim is coming.
Can anyone recommend a London (England) hairdresser who will do a good job and can be relied upon not to take too much off? (Money isn't a big issue. I used to pay about £30-£60.)
Thanks.

IMO;
You are safer going to a hairdresser (as you have requested) than a barber so avoid them but; it is really up to you to state exactly what you want. Explain your goals before the scissors are even in his/ her hand.
You want an inch off, say 'i want an inch off'.
You want 2 inces off, say 'i want 2 inches off'.
You want a complicated style, bring a picture of what you want and show it to the stylist.
If they take more off that you asked for: REFUSE TO PAY. That is your right.
There's a stylist named Aiden at Vidal Sassoon South Moulton Street that had hair to his arse! This was about 10 years ago, but if he is still there then he's worth a go. Cheers
I phoned and unfortunately there is now no Aiden at South Molton Street. Thanks anyway! I'll probably just go back to my stylist from several years ago at Charles Worthington. I think I'll avoid the Vidal Sassoon salon that I most recently used to go to at Brook Street because it's men only...
Too bad, he must have moved on. London never has a shortage of fantastic stylists! Good luck! (just make sure that their idea of an inch actually looks like an inch...lol)
