There's a Chinese proverb that says"One who asks a question is a fool for five minutes. The one who does not ask a question is a fool for a lifetime." I choose the five-minute route. So here is my question: What makes a boar's bristle brush better than, say, a wire brush. I dont' unerstand.
>question: What makes a boar's bristle brush better than, say, a wire >brush. I dont' unerstand.
I have another question to add: What do you mean by a wide-tooth comb? I have a comb that is certainly wider than most that I use to comb out my hair after showering and it seens to work fine, but I'm not sure that it is what you all talk about when you say boar-bristle brush and wide-tooth comb.
Also, where would you get a boar-bristle brush? At one of those specialty beauty-products stores?
If you have any natural curl in your hair you would be better off with a detangler comb, the teeth are 2-3 mm apart and the middle bows out alternating on either side.
The reason for a boar-bristle brush is it a firm natural brush that helps redistribute the natural oils in your hair. A metal/wire brush will generate static electricity and promote split-ends and breakage. Keep the wire brush for grooming your pets! they don't cause the same problems with fur.
Your best bet for finding these would be your local drug store in the hair care section. The packages should be fairly well marked.
I got a boar's hair brush yesterday at Kmart for $4.99 (Goody brand). It's a "club" style with a nice real wood handle. Seems to work very well.
