Hair Growth Facts:
Well I have been studying hair and hairdressing for 17 years. I am a licenced Cosmotolgist. The only thing that will grow hair is the papillia the part of the scalp (that sits in the pore) in side that papillia is a bulb (the white at the end of the folicle when you pull out a hiar). So the papillia and blub together help grow a folicle (hair).
The best you can do is eat ALL NATURAL FOODS and drink 8 glasses of water. Avoid smoking, eating junk food.
Hair grow and AVERAGE of 1/2 inch per month.
There is NO miracle hair grow (not even a hat) product or vitamin. If there was there would be NO balding people.
Licenced Cosmotologist
What's one of those ?
Think "cosmetics".

They are professionals in hair, skin and nails and have a degree of extreme knowledge in that field.
I wouldn't want just anyone messin' with my hair.
Well then, I guess I'm doing the right things! I eat mostly natural, unprocessed foods, I don't smoke (or drink alcohol, save for a few drinks per year) and I drink easily 8-12 glasses of water per day. Mind you, for a while I believe I wasn't getting enough protein, maybe that's why my (appears to) have started thinning, visible now that I'm letting my hair grow.
About vitamins, I've heard of a few people that have take vitamins like Nourishair by GNC, prenatal women's supplements or other such things with biotin, etc. You mean to say that none of those work at all?
I must be doing something right too. I smoke like a chimney, eat mostly junk food and I never take vitamins. I only get about 6 hours of sleep a day. The water I drink fomes from coffee and Gatoraid.
I have nipple length blond hair with no split ends.
In my opinion, achieving good hair in the long run depends on how good the gene pool was to you. Using conditioner maintains it well. I got lucky. I am 52 years old and my hair has not had a cut in any way since May 2001, and it looks and feels great.
I will concur w/ the facts previously stated. Although I have noticed that my pregnant clients seem to grow more hair and grow it faster. Most of which are on pre-natal vitamins. So I guess the drug enhanced hairgrowth is kind of up in the air at this point. But the diet and the non smoking and water consumption can only help things. One other item that I would have to add would be when you wash your hair be sure to massage your scalp well as this will increase the blood flow to the scalp and enhance hair growth slightly. Another area that I see a lot of here is that the trims are bad. Well gotta throw ya a no on that one guys. If you have a split end and do not trim this will result in more damage to that hair shaft. Think of a split end like a crack in a window. Its only going to get worse if left unattended. Also the going a week w/o washing hair. Other than being gross what you are doing here is allowing your follicles to become clogged w/ body oils. Body oils that solidify and prohibit oxygen flow to the follicle area. Thus slowing down hair growth. So all in all practice healthy habits get a trim every 2 months or so and for Gods sake keep it clean!

Dan
Far more important, it gets the oil off your scalp and into your hair, where it does the good it is there for. Provided you don't then wash it all out with an overly harsh washing routine.
Sorry, I'm gonna throw that one right back at ya. Details are below.
On the other hand, if you quit destroying your hair by washing it too much, you won't get any new splits, and the ones you have will cease to grow any further and the frayed parts soon break off. Been there, done that.
Follicles do not need oxygen. If they did, sea lions would have no hair, and animals that live in the mountains would have less hair than others. Especially the ones who don't bathe with a salon product and therefore have their itty bitty pores clogged with body oils.
Yes, cleanliness is next to Godliness. Clean your hands every ten minutes. Clean 'em until the skin all cracks open. Clean your hair until the hairs start to crack open. Then get trims so often that your hair never gets long enough to reveal that you are cleaning it to death.
It's tough to get less than about half an inch in your fingers when you cut, and that is one month's growth. Trims every two months will therefore cut your growth in half. Ultimately, they will cut your achieved terminal length in half. But your scalp will be so clean you can eat off of it!
