As a teenager, Iwore my hair long but at some point Iconformed and ended up with short hair. I am now 42 and have been growing my hair for about a year and am now able to pull back to a ponytail, however now my temples have grayed and I am somewhat insecure about it. My wife says it looks distinguished but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any thoughts on when its too late???
After you have died, it's too late. Go for it, Jay!
I've seen white waist lenght hair on older men. Looks good.
I'm 44 now, and will be 45 soon. I started growing my hair out about two and a half years ago, and it's to my middle back. So I don't think you're too late at all.

Hell, Jay -- I'm 43, and my hair's longer now than it was when I was in High School. As MykleQ said, ya ain't too old until yer dead. Plus, your wife likes it -- all the more reason to keep it going!
You will be never too old !!!!

I've always found a grey at the temples to be awfully sexy on men, especially if they have long hair. I also find men with silver hair and long to be extremely sexy as well. Here's a woman's opinion besides your wife, do it, Jay. I wish my boyfriend would let his grey a bit but he's 42 also and dead set against although he is growing it long and just now "cascading over his shoulders."

It's great to hear all of this. I'm 30 and just started growing my hair out. I've always wanted long hair, but felt that I should have done this 10 years ago. Keep growing!!!!!!!!!!!

As I see it, once a guy gets into the senior years, say, over 60,
long hair actually starts to look better on him than in middle age. I think of the Santa Claus effect, Buffalo Bill Cody .. hair neatly coiffed with a bit of a wave and some curl to give some style ( a wee bit of glory, as it were). Here, grey and white hair should be kept as is, and perhaps enhanced by some sort of coloration. Should we consider a blue tint, heretofore the province of senior women? Short hair on old men, or hair which is straight, makes them look severe to me, too straight-laced and ultra-conservative. I think the ageing facial features, bearded or unbearded, play a role in giving this impression. I'm 57 now, and have some natural grey, and no coloration. I may be on the cusp of a new job (currently unemployed), and if I can make enough to be self-sufficient, and not have to be concerned with an employer's or customers' desire for short hair, I will extend my hair as long as I can, even past my knees, and somehow, get in the company of those who like it, especially the ladies.

Hey, I'm 52 and my hair is half way down my back. My original goal was to grow it until Y2K, but now I think I'll grow it to my waist (or more?) ..... I have graying hair at my temples (unfortunately the gray hair is a bit frizzy) and a couple other small gray areas.
And the fact that your wife likes your hair, well that's even better! (It can have some real benefits!) I say go for it, we need more guys that are not afraid to wear their hair long if they want! You got class, man!
It's already too late.
Act your age and get a haircut.
