I have a chin length bob at the moment which I am still growing. I would like some suggestions for up-styles for both formal and informal occassions.
I can't give any SPECIFIC recomendations, but chin-length is just a TAD short for a good updo. I used to have hair that varied from just above the shoulders to a few inches below, and even at the shorter length, I could get a pretty decent updo. But the main problem is the hair in the back -- if it's not too long, it will be difficult to keep up with pins, and even a ton of hair spray may not work too well. The hair should also ideally be cut at that one length and not layered.
I don't know. I've been able to have some nice updo's done on hair that isn't all one length. The pics of my updo's on Victor's "styles" page were when my hair was about shoulder length. I have had my hairdresser do some nice swept up and pinned styles after setting with rollers. She wound all the rollers upwards (opposite to the normal direction of most brick pattern sets). Then the combout would have me bend over while she brushes all the hair up to the crown and fastens it there with bobby pins. The very curly crown and bangs accentuate the style which is soft and smooth at the back and sides.
