has anyone here gone into a stylist and taken a picture of a long hair style on a women, if tht makes sense? I am just having problems finding pictures of styles i like on guys to let them know wot i want.
also, do most salons charge male prices even though you have long hair? and finally, is it best to go into a female salon becuase they are more used to styling long hair rather than a male salon.
ive not been into a hair salon now for several years, and when i did i just had it all shaved. not sure what to expect now im going back with 13 inch bangs. lol
Yup I have taken in a picture of a womans style, it fit my face and worked perfect. I was a bit scared at first but its what I wanted so I thought what the heck. I did go to a few salons first to find someone who seemed like they would do what I wanted. I found a girl who also had long hair, she was and still is awesome. She makes sure my hair can grow the way I want and doesn't take to much off. I am doin the rachel cut and it is great.

cool. is that the Rachel - Jenifer Aniston cut? dya have a pic of it online or of you with it? I quite like Buffy the Vampire Slayers cut from season 5 but not sure if it would fit my face.

Here's a shot of Jenifer Aniston for you.
"I am doin the rachel cut and it is great."
By the "rachel" cut, are you referring to "The Rachel" cut from about 6 years that was really layered? Of are you talking about the way Aniston has her hair cut today?
I guess its a problem seen as most guys don't have long hair. I'm still growing, but on my last trim my stylist talked to me about by final goals and she actually used a number of female pictures to help illustrate her point. So I think it makes perfect sense, whats more I think most stylists fully expect it, so there's nothing to feel unconfortable about. (BTW: I also like the "Rachel" Cut.)
Long Hair or not you wont be able to get your hair done at a "Female salon", you'll have to go to a Unisex Salon. You'll probably find you still get charged the mens rate, though you might find that your not paying the Junior Stylist rate anymore.
Pardong my ignorance, but.... what, exactly, is a "unisex" salon?
unisex salons are ones which cut both male and female hair. I dont know about other places, but where I am we have a male salon, which i think does beards and shaving as well as hair.

Yeah - Marks got it down.
Unisex Salons are Salons that cater for men and women, I was been a little pedantic but a "female" or Ladies salon - will only cut ladies hair. Whereas a gents salon (aka Barbers) will only do Gents.
I have waist length hair and I have a local unisex salon
that I go into to have the pony tail trimmed to stay at
waist length. It took alot of years to finally find someone
that wasn't ready to cut it all off no matter what I wanted.
I've had times where I went in for a trim, went in with
hair half way down the back, went out with cut that was much too
short.
What is a "female salon"? Maybe 30 years ago, but not today. I have never heard of a salon being only for females (do you live in the USA?)
Yes, I have taken pictures of women to my stylist. Even when my hair was shorter, I'd sometimes show a stylist a picture of how I wanted the back , sides, etc. cut.
For long hair, you don't have much choice.
No, but the first and only time I ever had my hair permed, I told the stylist I wanted my curls to look like Nicole Kidman's. Suffice it to say, I was VERY pleased with the results!
Of course, at that time, my hair was short enough (just touching my shoulders) that the perm only cost me $10. With my hair as long as it is, now, another perm would cost me around $200. No, thanks.
