Just a quick question about when people talk about hair length in inches. When your measuring hair do you go by a single strand or do you grab a clump and measure from your head to the longest in the clump?

The latter. One strand of hair isn't representative of the mass of hair as a whole... and when people notice length, they notice the "longest" length.
I like to pick ones near the front since they're the easiest to see.
