While a ponytail is the most basic method of keeping one's hair out of one's face, it can still be a bit confusing for the virgin longhair. As such, it has occurred to me that a video clip demonstrating how to tie one might prove helpful.
In this demo, I "tighten" my ponytail by pulling my hair apart. It's a trick that someone tought me years ago, as a way of making the tail feel more secured.

BTW... in this clip, I wrap the band around twice. I only do that because there's enough elasticity in it to do so, and not enough for a third wrap. The goal is to get the band tight enough that it won't slip.
Thank you for making this demonstration Nyghtfall, seeing is so helpful versus explaining when it comes to something like this. Your hair is as always gorgeous. The tightening can be harmful to your hair though, as you do it that band is moving upwards against the hair grain and can be shredding the scales. It is something to be aware of if done regularly, but after seeing your hair I can't argue with your success.

I'm glad I could help.
Thank you. :)
That's why I made the movie to scrunchies a few years ago. They're much more comfortable, too. Unfortunately, the band inside the last one I had broke a few weeks ago, and I've not yet managed to get a new scrunchie.
No worries. Your point is well made, and reinforces the fact that I really need to get a new scrunchie, asap. I miss mine...
Uh... that should read "move", not "movie".

Hmmm, forgot to add my email address on that prev. post. If you want some more info. about the ones I have, go ahead and shoot me a msg.

I agree with Elizabeth, you shouldn't tighten your ponytail this way because you are rubbing against the cuticle, this can cause damage, especially if you tell someone to do this that has thin hair strands, which can break easier. Yes, it tightens the ponytail but not good for the hair. :)
I am female though and girls aren't wearing scrunchies anymore, we wear claw clips or smaller hair holders, I use a 3 prong clip that keeps the hair from getting damaged.
This guy really has great hair, but needs to trim his neck with some electric trimmers to clean up the look.
Thanks.. heheh... yeah, definitely need to clean up my neck, soon.
;)
Great video. Your hair is beautiful. Very full and healthy. Do you ever wear your hair in various styles (i.e. braid, bun, high ponytail, hair band, etc.)? Just curious. Hope to see more demonstration videos. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks.
I've worn a French braid a couple of times, but my wife isn't too good at braiding and I can't braid it myself. Other than that, nope.... never tried anyting else.
You might, some day, but not from me. I'm not the adventurous type when it comes to my hair. It's either tied back, or hangs lose. I'm pretty simple that way.
;)
Do you have a higher bandwith video (if you have cable or dsl)?
I could make one, but the resulting file would be over 4Mb in size. I prefer not having to pay for the ensuing bandwidth.
What kind of modem do you have? Does that count if you e-mail it? (If you have a modem that doesn't take forever to send it)
i got to this too late, and it was taken off. can anyone email it to me?
I got here too late as well - anyone wanna E-Mail the file to me? :)
