Is it just me... or do the clothes we wear have an effect on how much we like our hair? I notice that I generally have good hair days and like the way it looks when I'm wearing shirts that have my favorite colors like blue, black, or dark grey.... But when I'm wearing shirts that I don't like the color for as much, like white, I generally don't seem to be as happy with the way my hair looks! Does anyone else experence similair feelings?

Yes, I find this too. My hair always looks the best when I am wearing black. And for some reason - and don't ask me why - I have always thought that long hair and those roll-neck polo jumpers always go together well.

I believe that our clothing style wil affect how our hair style is percieved by us and others. For example, a tighter, simpler, or classier outfit will make us feel better about our hair than grunge clothing.
I've noticed that too, and I seem to like the same colors you do. In general, I've found that loud patterns don't flatter my hair much because they conflict with, and detract attention from, the patterns that exist in my hair. Therefore, plain shirts, or those with reasonably muted patterns, work best. If I want a loud T-shirt, I'll pick one that has a loud pattern in the middle on the front but not on the sides where my hair hangs.
I've also found that collars interfere to some extent with long hair. They mildly clash visually with it, and their presence causes my hair to get messed up more frequently since they cause more friction with my mane each time I rotate my head than smooth shoulders would. A lot of women's clothes do not have collars. This may well be because more women have long hair. Collars are only there to keep your neck warm and provide interest around your neck, and if you have long hair, your hair is already providing both. They therefore make less sense for someone with long hair.
Pull-over shirts don't work well for me for any layer I may during the day want to take off. They really mess up my hair when I remove them. As a thick-bearded longhair I tend to be warmer than other people due to my extra insulation (grin) so taking off layers often is desirable. I wear T-shirts all the time but they are the bottom layer and don't in polite company come off. Everything else I prefer to have buttons or a zipper down the front, so it doesn't have to come off over my head.
Hoods also don't work well for me. They are always fighting with my mane for space on my shoulders below and behind my head.

Short haired nudists just look dorky, IMO.

Whoa man, are you seriously part of a nudist colony? How is it?
I went to a nudist beach one time with some friends (by bad directions) and it was not good. The only people that were nude there were like 70+ and FAT. Ugh! Yuk! I like it better when you can put that fuzzy spot over the offending scene.
It is not a "colony" per se, it is a resort. It is like any other resort, but much more comfortable. You do whatever you do at a normal resort, but in the nude. Sexual display of any kind is strictly prohibited, and it is a family oriented facility.

I believe my hair looks best flowing down my bare sholders, than it does in any shirt! I consider myself a nudist too, since I belong to AANR, but am not a member of any resorts

I visit a nude beach on Long Island sometimes. There a fair number of longhairs there.
Long Island?? Bet is a bit nippy there for that kinda thing at this time of year...

I think long hair on naturists looks more natural because long hair is more... well... natural! ;)
I agree i dont feel nearly as confident about how my hair looks when im not wearing clothes i like. Each of us have clothes which compliment the way we look. So the solution is GET RID of the clothes you feel uncompfortable in :)
I suppose thats true, although am I alone in wishing that I would look my best no matter WHAT I am wearing? Am I just weird?
hmmm, this is a very interesting topic, which could lead to a lot of research.
while i wouldn't say that we should dress a certain way just to comply with the majority(i doubt any male longhair in my culture feels that way), i wouldn't say it's entirely wrong to "take a hit for us", meaning that a longhair might dress extremely "in", even if he usually dresses weirdly(and doesn't want to wear a popular style), to try to change the public's perception of long hair. hopefully people will eventually stop seeing male longhairs as dirty, unclean, mean, less nice or responsible, which i have found can be true, and which also could put longhairs at a disadvantage when it comes to decision making(jobs, etc.) i honestly think some people view male long hair as gross, and they look down on these people, and associate them(especially people like me who never trim any bodily hair) with being poor or homeless. of course, i don't have a problem with the poor or homeless, so i wouldn't mind, except that with that there are other assumptions which are degrading to homeless/poor and are therefore also potentially to longhairs.
sometimes i like to make my hair really nice and fancy and pretty and dress up in a suit and act "sophisticated", not because i think that this look is any better than looking grungy(i definately look grungy too, and sometimes trendy, and sometimes "dorky"), but simply because i want people to think of longhairs as being poor OR rich, and clean OR dirty, and quiet OR loud. basically, i don't want people to make false assumptions, in this case, about men with long hair.
as for the topic, i'd say i like my hair with black clothes, too, and greens and browns, and with more formal attire, like when i wear suits.
Oh, yes unquestionanabley. I'm female and I find that something wath a lower neckline complements my close to knee length hair wondefully, or anything with a long line, long skirts (On me, not most of you unless of course you choose to) and tailord blouses (or in your case a button down shirt) anything with vertical lines
