I was wanting to know if any of you guys ever miss your short hair days? I plan to have long hair until the day I die, but I must admit I have in the past missed my short hair. Do any of you ever have the same thoughts, or am I going insane?
Actually, I hardly remember what it was like to have really short hair,
since most of my life was spent on the verge of being in some kind
of awkward stage.
And now that my hair is long, I find it almost impossible to think
back to the way it was like before I grew it out.
I think human beings have a way of quickly adapting to new situations...
and part of that is forgetting the way things were.
That is, it's hard enough being who you are TODAY without
thinking about who the heck you were yesterday.
Hope that answer helps...or that it even makes any sense!
sounds spot on actually!!!i think having long hair is a massive life change, you become a completely different person, its like you just changed your religion or birth country becoming a longhair. I loathe the old short-haired me!!!
I only really had short hair as a child, and in my very early teens. Even then I had a fringe (bangs for Americans, sounds percussive to me!). I started to grow it as a teenager, I think when I was 15, wearing it shoulder length in the layered style for many years, and then I grew it out completely starting when I was about 23.
I started to grow it out at that point because of a chance remark from a teenage girl who said my hair wasn't really long. When I thought about it I realised she was right and decided to fix that problem! Now I'm 46, and it still only goes to mid back, although I don't take as much care of it as a lot of people on the group seem to.
That's all backgound. Getting on topic, my hair was a real hassle and very high maintenance when it was layered, needing frequent blow-drying to look really sensational for 5 minutes if I stayed out of high winds. Before that it was irritating when it was growing into that style (because at that stage it catches on collars).
It was even quite a hassle when it was short, because it wouldn't lie flat. Now that wouldn't be the case if it was ever short on top, but I've never had my hair cut short on top of my head my entire life. I can't relate to crew cuts, buzz cuts or whatever, because I have zero personal experience.
My present length of hair is far more manageable than it ever was at any previous length, so there's nothing for me to miss. I suppose a crew cut would be more manageable, but I never had one, and to be honest that style has all kinds of negative associations for me. In the place and time that I grew up that style was only associated with people who wore 'bovver boots' for kicking their victims with.
That was the (very) long answer, with all the reasons, and the short answer is:-
'NO'!
NO WAY do I miss "Short Hair!"
n/t
Never.

In all honesty, I dont really care. I'm fine with it long or short
I have a picture on the living room wall of my wife and children and I back when I had short hair and every time I have a look at myself in that picture it reminds me just how much I am glad to have long hair now. I do not miss those short hair days at all. Never do. As far as I am concerned, long hair is the only hair for me. Peace!
I don't know whether I MISS my short hair, or I just get so frustrated with my awkward stage level two that I reminisce that I looked better with short hair (grass is always greener syndrome.) Either way, sometimes I do think about just getting my hair cut again, but then I come here or pull out inspriation photos and the feeling passes again for a while.
Before
After
Surely you jest.
Since I have had short hair for 34 years and long hair, or at least long enough to be considered long, for only 6 months...NO!

Miss what I had before?!? Ha!
What a difference!! The "after" looks much, much better, so yes why missing boring short hair??
You look great, that's some very nice growth
