Hi,
Me and my new girlfriend both have hair around mid back length and we love to braid each others hair. She is a lot better than me at it, but we can both do simple braids and french plaits etc.
We would like some suggestions for more complicated styles (the harder the better - we just love doing it). Does anyone have any suggestions, can recommend books or magazines or other websites. We would like not only pictures of the styles but also some instructions.
I have two nice books sitting right by the computer.
The first, Hair, by Anne Akers Johnson, ISBN 1-57054-018-7, is a book that is kind of like those Klutz Press books. It includes a little box with hair ties and what not in it. On the front cover is a girl with a red French braid going over her ear. It has great illustrations and photographs.
The other book, Hairstyles, Braiding & Haircare, by Jacki Wadeson, ISBN 0-517-10230-5, is a hardcover book (list price $13) with beautiful photographs illustrating techniques for styling and hair care.
There are a few links on the internet for braiding styles. Unfortunately, I don't have them handy. If you can, I suggest going to a Renaissance festival. They usually have professional hair braiders there with books illustrating the styles they do. Look through these for ideas.
Hi Victor,
Thanks for the references. I tried to get these over the weekend, but could not. If they are still in print I will order them. Meanwhile, if you do come across any of the web sites please post them here.
Have you tried www.amazon.com? It has Hair by Anne Akers Johnson, and
might have Hairstyles, Braiding & Haircare.
