I have posted my February 2004 progress pictures on my website. After twenty months of hair growth I have reached an important milestone, the end of my awkward stage. I am trying to wear my hair down as much as possible. Today I noticed a guy with just-at-shoulder-length hair looking at me, just like I used to stare at guys with past-shoulder-length hair and wonder when I would get there. Keep growing everybody. Take good care of your hair and don't let anybody else determine your path.
Looks brilliant but I would suggest that you do shave your neckline - does not look manly just a mess unfortunately. The tail is brilliant!!!!!!!!
Lookin' great, Gollan! And, believe it or not, you've inspired me! I want one of those "Tree of Life" tie cuffs!
Gollan,
Although some may disagree, I think you should have your neck hair cleaned up. Just my humble opinion. I think your growth is great and love the thick mane.
The neck hair should probably go. It would look cleaner.
Mine is probably 'cleaned up' every month or so.
Otherwise it turns into a downy fuzz that tickles and/or irritates...
and it never looks good--at least not on me.
I agree with the above. It DOES give a much cleaner look and may even perhaps sway those who dislike Long Hair. Who knows. Certainly the pics shared on this board NEVER denote the image of a pig. Pride is taken in hair and appearance. Unfortunately for the masses, they see all too often a Man w/Long Hair who is filthy to begin with. I have yet to see a guy surrounded by admirers whos hair and hygiene is nothing short of spotless. Sometimes I think there is almost some sort of an almost hypnotic-power that draws them in to those of that type. They appear to be dazzled!
I agree totally! Most of the Longhairs I see take pride in their appearance...
and that includes neatness & cleanliness.
Of course, there are always those exceptions to the rule, but I find them to be very rare examples, indeed.
Those fine neck hairs will NEVER get long...nor were they meant to do so.
For the longest time I just let them be. But then they just look so
messy, so off they came!
how long should my hair be when I can start to get rid of the neck hairs? My hair is about 4 inches in length now.
thanks..
No point in getting rid of them before you can do a ponytail. That is the only time they show.
Also, until your hair gets long, some guys can't tell which neck hairs will be stunted and which will grow long. Waiting will let you see that.
The reason the neck hairs don't grow long and look different is that they are really a different kind of hair, just like your beard is a different kind of hair. If your neck hairs are very kinky while your mane is very straight, as an example, then you can tell which strands are "neck hair", and you can safely get rid of them early if you want to.
If you don't do ponytails and if your neck hair has a similar texture to your mane - this represents my situation - I see no real reason to trim off your neck hair. My neck hair grows to about 8 inches in length, while my mane has terminaled out at about 22 inches. I just let my neck hair flow in among my mane. I've seen other guys though who have very kinky neck hair that is only two inches long, while they grow a straight two foot mane. Such neck hair is a distraction from their mane when it is in a tail, and it makes sense for those guys to remove their neck hair.
Great answer! Thanx!
So glad you "made-it!" Looks fabulous!!!!!!!!! The "Pony-Cuff" is really neat! :-)
It is looking better each month. Long hair really suits you well. Keep on growing. Absalom
Looking good! (boy that upflip on the shoulders sure brings back memories)
Looks GREAT! Your "corporate" photo is classy as well.
