It seems to me that there is some confussion with hair care and styling. Maybe some of you don't know anything about hair, and you spend your time looking for message boards on the internet to give your two cents. Like anything in life, it takes time/effort/patience. Do you seriously think that if you could get a quick fix for your hair all your troubles would be gone. Don't think so. If there was a quick fix, wouldn't everyone have beautiful hair? If you are serious you will take care of it properly. It's like getting into shape, it all depends on how long you have been neglecting it. Find a routine or method to take you on that journey to health, long hair and do it. Quit your bitching, you sound like a boy with no toys.
Yes, there definitely is. Most men aren't taught how to care for hair when they're growing up. I certainly wasn't. Consequently, a lot of men really damage their hair in the growing out stages by treating it the same as short hair- frequent shampooing, rough treatment, etc.
Message boards are pretty handy for finding general info and people with similar experiences. I've read interesting things on the board here that my stylist never told me, and it has been a very valuable resource.
I think most longhairs are quite familiar with patience. I'm currently growing out my hair to all one length, and it's going to take a very long time, with lots of awkward stages in between, but that's ok. It's worth it to me. I do agree that there aren't any quick fixes- but reading the experiences of people that have already "been there, done that" can be very helpful in finding the routine or method that works for you.
