"Below are the first pictures I've posted although I've been lurking on the board for about a year . I'm 41 years old and live in North Yorkshire, England. I've been growing since 1 December 2000 from a 1" cut, with no trims (hence the ends look a bit ratty). This is the second time I've had long hair - the first time I grew for 4 years and had it all cut off on a bad hair day (big mistake - I didn't follow the two-week rule). Positive feedback and constructive criticism would be welcomed. Thanks to Treyn for posting these pics for me."

Your hair looks good. At first glance it seemed as though it should be longer for 38 months of growth. I took a second look, you are really TALL, my estimate from the photo (with doorway in background)is 6 feet 8 inches which makes your hair appear shorter than it really is. Considering your height your hair appears to be on target as far as growth is concerned. Your hair may be a bit dry (especially at the ends) and would likely benefit from a moisturizing shampoo. A good conditioner will help with the ends as well, that is where it appears to show some damage. Absalom

OMG, only because of ONE bad hair day?? I can't count my bad hair days anymore LOL and still I would NEVER cut it off because my hair is part of my personality.
I'm always banging my head on doorways (the clue was in the nickname) !
Thanks for the advice Absalom. I took your general advice from earlier posts regarding multiple hair bands.
My hair IS very dry (I have dry skin and don't sweat either). I moisturise/condition like crazy and this is an improvement! I think the ends will have to go in a trim but I still have that mindset of 'one inch = two months' at the moment.
Thanks again,
Laurence
I like the way you have arranged your hair ties in segments. It's faster
and easier than braiding.
The length of the tail suits you well. Good balance and nice proportion.
