Hey there. I'm an actor and I want to cut my beard for my role in Shakespeare's "As You Like It." I was looking on the net for pictures for the specific style that I want, so that would have something to go by, but I can't find anything helpful. However, Google pointed me here. First off, is there any way to really straighten facial hair?
I think what you're referring to is called a Van Dyke beard and moustache. See this link for some pictures.
Facial hair is usually very thick and thus not amenable to straightening without damage. You could try using some wax. Try Oregon Wild Hair moustache wax, available at http://www.oregonwildhair.com/wax.php
It's best to apply it to hair that is still damp and flexible.
