Hello... I haven't been reading posts here for a long time but it's refreshing to be back. :)
I have a problem with hair loss. It's not serious, but it is upsetting to wake up and find your long hairs all over the house. I'm chinese, and have straight hair almost down to my waist. The actual hairs are quite thick, but my hair "density" has noticably thinned as of late. I suppose it hasn't helped that I've destroyed my hair by bleaching some of it and dying it on two occasions in the past year. (This is what I suspect as the main culprit of my loss of hair -- the bleached/damaged hair gets into many more knots) Also, as a student living on my own I fear that I might not be eating right, either.
On the other hand, could this be normal to shed all over the place? I've talked to girls with similarly lengthed hair and they tell me that it's normal to shed what seems like insidious amounts of hair.
Anxious, but not really,
ennuigoff.
I lose gobs of hair and after I wash it I have over a handful of hair in my comb. You can't even tell. I wish I could tell you that perhaps your hair is just shedding. You might want to look into your family history and see if any early hair loss occurred there and that may help. Hair loss ran rampant in my dad's family from my grandfather. All the males in his family with their resemblance has suffered hairloss at a young age. When their sons have resembled their wives, no hair loss occurred. I do not know much about this subject, just what I've observed. Perhaps someone here has more factual information or can give you some insight.
Good luck,
Chaeya
More than likely you are seeing normal hair loss, or perhaps a bit more than average due to the bleaching. Just for reference, on average, people lose about 100 hairs a day. Considering you have over 100,000 on your head, this is not many. However, when they fall out everywhere, it can look ominous when you clean up. On another hair forum there was a mention about the problem with vacuum cleaners owned by longhaired people. The long hair tangles up the beaters. No, I wouldn't worry about hair loss unless you see some creep in your hair line. Or, perhaps some thinning (at the root level) in specific areas like the crown of your head or close to your temples.
