As usual its when I hit the town with my mates that I tend to get these little incidents which I feel I should share with the rest of you.
I'd gone out with my Brother and a mate to see a small gig played by a local band, we got a table in this bar pretty near the stage, and it didn't take long for the gig to kick off and a solitary girl to get up and dance by herself infront of the band.
Pleased with the response the bands frontman decided to encourage more people to get up and dance: "Someone get up and dance with this young lady." He shouts over the mike.
Given my idea of dancing is basically bouncing on the spot, I decided to remain seated, besides, she wasn't my type. But my brother had other ideas and started pushing me out of my seat, encouraging me to get up.
It didn't take the band long to notice this and offer their encouragement: "Yeah - you with the long hair - come on dance with the lady!"
"Long Hair?" Me? - Thats a first - I still kinda figured it was rather short... "mid-length" maybe... but it suddenly dawned on me that other people actually consider my hair to be long... so its UnOfficial, I'm now a "longhair"!
To finish the story, my brother burst out laughing inexplicably at the "long hair" comment. I guess he had never though of me as a longhair either. And I never did get up to dance.
Dunno if anyone is really interested, its just another one of those whacky realisations and experiences I thought I'd share.
Thanks for sharing. I am sure many of we Longhairs are always interested in "Longhair Stories." Whacky? No way man. A fun-to-read story!
Congratulations on your new designation! I hope we can see more pics on the longhair hyperboard pics. However, whenever I click on your name below your pic is says something in spanish that seems to indicate I can't access your site. Any reason for this or suggestions how to overcome it?
Yeah I took my site offline whilst I came up with a new design style. I'll post when its back online
Well done, Sorted! Length comparisons do depend on who you are running with and out in the wide world you are seen by others as long haired. I'd say the band member made it official rather than unofficial. :-)
Glad you stuck by what you wanted to do on the dancing bit too.

Sometimes being noticed in a 'different light' is a nice thing!
Congratulations!
Good one! And how did you go with the girl, lol?
Congrats long hair!
Long hair rules!
I had a VERY similar experience. I was growing it out. One day I was walking through Golden Gate Park and a stranger who wanted to talk to me called out, "Hey Longhair!"
I was walking on air the rest of the day. Having someone else call you that, particularly a stranger who isn't comparing you to your former self, or to any standards other than the general definition of "longhair", provides an unbiased and most strong affirmation that you have become one!
Congratulations!
