I'm growing my hair out for a second time. I had long hair when I was 9-12, got a buzz, and decided I didn't like it. So now I'm letting it get long again (I'm 15 now).
Its been 5 months since I got a haircut and it is already very long (my hair grows fast for some reason). Here is a pic, sorry its so small but my camera is horrible lol.

As you can see my hair covers my ears just about and my bangs are down to my eyes almost.
What I want to do is grow it out so its all one length - right above the neck. My hair is very straight and easy to manage so I think this is a good choice.
Just some questions:
1. Some days my hair is really flat... whats a good way to add some volume? Not shampoos but by styling it. Someone mentioned "scrunching' it but that doesnt really work with my hair.
2. After I wash it my hair is really dry and stays that way until night. Should I use less shampoo or something?
3. I know I'm going to need trims to get it all one length. I just want to know when I should get them. Now? In a few months/weeks?
4. Is vitamin E good for hair?
5. Should I condition every day or every other day?
Also is this what you all call the awkward stage?
It isnt very awkward for me lol I like my hair like this.
No, you're not in the awkward stage yet. It is an individual thing but you will probably start at around six or seven months of growth. Good luck!
Not a bad choice at all, congrats on reaching 5 months:
Your questions:
A: Damp down your hair and comb your it backwards and let it dry a little before styling it as you would normally, by pushing the hair back against its normal direction of growth you will give it more volume.
Use a Seperate Conditioner every time you shampoo. Look for moisturing or hydrating Shampoos and Conditioners if you hair is really dry.
Generally best time to get a trim is when the style you are growing out from no-longer 'fits' around your head and you are unhappy with the way it looks. As long as you are happy with the way it looks then there is no need to trim. Looking at your picture I would leave it for now.
Though as you point out for an "all one length" style you are going to need to trim sooner or later, and if you just let your hair grow without trims, by the time the hair on top of your head reached your goal length, the back will be falling about 5-6 inches further down your neck/back. You might be cool with this, you might not, the choice is yours.
Some advice on trims, whenever you feel you need one, wait an extra 3 weeks before going to the salon, if during that time you change or mind about the trim, all the better, if not then you have given the stylist an extra 1cm of hair to work with means your unlikely to get it cut too short!
I have no idea. Most vitamins are good for something so I dont think it'll hurt. A Healthy Balanced diet will help promote good growth rates though. Suppliments are not really necessary.
Everytime you wash your hair.
Its the phase that most people experience whilst growing out their hair which normally hits 5 months into the growing out process whilst try as you might your hair just looks awful. It often reemerges whenever the hair has to find its way around obsticle of the anatomy that get in its way. (Ears, Shoulders etc.)
To be honest, as strange as this sounds, I can't wait until I enter the proper awkward stage such as hair getting in my eyes, mouth, ears. I'll be able to feel the growth then instead of looking up at my forehead as hard as I can to see the hair just peeking past the eyebrows lol.
I WANT TO KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GROW 4-5 INCHES OF HAIR?
Volume is obtained by some styling mousse. You may use L`Oreal or Garnier Fructis. L`Oreal is quite good. I use this products but contrarily to you, I dont like volume.
Use the right amount of shampoo, which is when you are able to see some scum coming when you`re massaging your wet hair.
Too much shampoo can cause dandruff.
Depends on you and your hair.
Every time you rinse you hair, you should.
