most of my hair is like to the bottom of the ear, but the top is a lil shorter than that, and my bangs go down past my eyes but curl out. if i use a shampoo with a lot of hydrating, it gets all flat and i cant get my bagns to curl right and it just looks awful, and if i use regular shampoo it dries up. i want to grow it like shoulder length, ive been growing for 5 months, and i wonder if i need to get it trimed any? and why does it not want to go anywhere i comb it when i get out of the shower, and i have to work with it for ages to get it to do right. i dont think have many dead ends. thanks. peace
Sounds like you are just being overly concerned with your appearance.
I always think most men look great with their hair a little tossled.
Let it grow and it will definitely improve. Don't worry so much about it.
I don't know much about gels but some of the guys on this board use gels to control unruly locks.
I'd recommend a trim, just the ends tho cause if your growing it out you dont want to remove any length. Had mine trimmed the other day cause mine was starting to look a little sad (im at 6 months so similar stage) an it looks way better now, cutting the ends has also made it feel way better cause the hair ends where a bit rough.
As for gel I dont really use it often, mine is straight/wavy and im not into the crispy look plus most things give me an itchy scalp!, but I would like something! On more curly hair I think paul mitchell does something called styling glaze for curly hair which is supposed to be great. Know what you mean tho I'm still looking for my perfect product.
As for your hairs life of its own, just go with it. Overstyled hair can look far worse than a groomed natural look. If your hair doesnt want to go somewhere then its not going to stay there and probably wont look good there either.
