Definitely after. Just let it grow first.
As for how it will look, I'd say pretty good!
Generally, longer hair on top (rather than having the length in the back)
is a good thing. It is difficult to tell from seeing your
hair from just one angle.
Maybe you should let it grow longer before you
make any decision to have it styles or cut?
Anyway, your hair has a very nice texture and color to it
so you will probably look great it long hair...Time will tell!
Good luck on your Journey!
Thanks for the support and advice. It gives me more confidence to grow my hair
and belief it will look alright. I will put more pictures on when my hair gets some where
Its a balance really:
1) If you don't trim until you reach your goal length, your hair will look pretty scruffy until you do. Without Trims hair really only settles down once it has a good amount of length and weight on it. (I mean like shoulder length).
2) If you trim, it'll take you longer to reach your goal length, and risk having some stylist misunderstand your goals and snip off too much. But whilst you'll still suffer a little with the awkward stage it'll not be as bad if you keep it shaped.
Given you are growing a midlength rather than a long style, it wont take you very long to grow the length you need, you might consider its better to get it over and done with ASAP or you might want to spend a little longer and be less frustrated by the awkward stage.
