Hi,
I posted before. Its now been seven months since I had a haircut, it now measures four inches.
My goal is to grow it to just about past my shoulders. How long will it take i for me to reach this, and how many inches is that about.
Im hoping to be able to have something resembling a ponytail for about July. Is this possible.
we dont know! it will tkae a long time ok! just deal with it for now we dont know how long your hair will grow in waht time
theres no big rush to get it long anyway jesus
it grows 1/2 inch a month you do the math
I agree if you want it long overnight get hair extensions...otherwise wait wait wait and more wait. Doesnt anyone think growing it is the fun part?....I mean once mines at the length I hope to grow it too eventualy I'll probably get bored and cut it shorter anyways!.....as it grows you can get a new look like every few month.
No, I wouldn't say that growing it is fun since its so slow but I think its cool when it reaches a new length. As for the hair extensions I just borrow my sister's red haired wig.
New guys ask the same questions over and over because they're new, they didn't see the previous answer, and they have the same question. New guys come here for support and answers. It's not about tormenting *you*. I suggest you avoid responding to questions that you don't want to answer.
Finally, a male has a lot of freedom to choose his path in this life. He can choose to be a longhair even though there is a lot of pressure to conform with a short haircut. He can also choose to be a gentleman, even though it is far easier to be a thug. I urge you to consider your path and take the rougher road. The world needs more longhairs. And it needs more gentlemen.
I don't think you'll have much of a ponytail by July. That is only another 1.5" of growth. Maybe at the end of August you'll be able to make a tail. But keep trying anyway. That is part of the fun of growing your hair.
You can get a good estimate of how long it will take to grow your hair down to your shoulders by measuring the distance between your hair and your shoulders. Multiply by two and that is approximately the number of months it will take. Good luck with your hair growth goals.
Hi Chris:
If it's any help...I started with about 1 inch of hair in Ocotber or November of 2002. Now, 16 months later, my bangs are just down to my upper lip. I can pull the back into a very meager pony tail, but my bangs don't reach back that far. However, they will barely tuck over the top of my ears, where they refuse to stay for too long.
My goal, too, is just below my shoulders. I'm estimating the back will be there by late fall/early winter, but my bangs won't be there for another year. In other words, that's about 2.5 years of growth total.
Cheers and good luck!

Hair grows about 1/2 inch per month which is 6 inches per year. It should take about 20 months to be 14 inches long which is the length for your bangs to reach your pony tie. To put all your hair into a low ponytail so it will stay in place well (with no trims) you will have to wait until about December 2005. You should be able to do a high ponytail that won't unravel by about July of 2005. For the time being, try to be patient, growing long hair is a long term commitment and there are no shortcuts. ...I've been growing now for a year and nine months, my hair is about 11-12 inches now. But I STILL can't get all of my hair in a tail yet!!
There are maybe 3 variables involved with how long it will take you to be able to put your hair in a tail: 1) the size & shape of your head, 2) hair fast your hair grows and 3) your hair type (curly, straight, etc.).
Since I don't know those features on you, I would guesstimate that you wouldn't be able to get the tail for another year or so, which means that I think July wouldn't be a realistic hope. It will happen, just not as soon as we'd like it to! Take care...
