i have no hair on my forehead and pretty much none on top but the rest is long and i like it !
There seems to be a new fascism about shaving your head just because a few follicles decide to quit .
If you ask me its more vain to fiddle about with a shaver several times a week than to leave it to do its own thing . My wife prefers it too, i`ve tried both ways and believe me this is the easiest way for me . Any man who have less head hair can tell who is shaving their head because of baldness anyway . I say less hair fascism if you feel more comfortable with long hair let it grow bro !
Shave if you want but they are so many men doing that now its almost as
apologetic as hiding under a hat ..." OH NO I`M NOT BALD I JUST LIKE THIS LOOK " ...
Good points!
If fascism does exist, it's purely self-imposed. Unless I'm mistaken, there are no government regulations that require how a man styles is hair. There may be peer pressure to follow some sort of status quo, but calling it fascism is a tad extreme.
Your decision to follow your heart is admirable, but lighten up on the metaphors.
If you feel that I was using the word fascism in its purest, than I suppose that would be your problem and not mine.
Metaphorically speaking, you may do well if you would refrain from spewing unwanted advice to others.
"Fascism" is defined as a political theory advocating an authoritarian hierarchical government. Until the government starts dictating how people can dress and wear their hair, fashion trends do not apply. Therefore, your use of the word within the context of your story was ill-chosen.
Your post invited a response. I answered.
Guys, this thread has tailed off into an argument, and that's unfortunate, because the argument is not about what the man meant, but about his choice of words. At least I sure knew what he meant. Both "fascist" and "nazi", especially when spelled with a lower case letter, have come to have a much broader meaning than they did in World War II. Lots of kids will say a certain teacher is a nazi, and they are addressing that teacher's arbitrary and dictatorial style, not his political party affiliation. This is not a new usage; it was already common by the time I was in high school in 1961. The word "fascist" has seen similar usage, and briefly the word "communist" got used that way.
Longhairs do suffer arbitrary discrimination, so we are going to see those words on here sometimes.
As we said back when the world had communists....
Make love, not war,
Point taken. My apologies, Zeronus.
When I lost my wisdom teeth, I just told the dentist to take the rest of them.
Uh... No... Actually I figured I'd rather keep the teeth I had left. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't feel the same way about their hair.
Keep it growin' and flowin',
That is good. I'm glad you and your wife are happy with your long hair.
I still think Geoff Tate of Queensryche looks good with his shaved head!!!
Perhaps 'fanaticism' is the word you want, as opposed to 'fascism'.
Question: Do you shave your face?
Agreed, but each to their own, right?
From my handle and previous posts you will guess that I am in the same position - but I too rejected the diktat from the fashion police that any man who has lost hair on top should shave and pretend that that is just their chosen style.
I am about to celebrate ten years without a trim, and wish you luck and support in your hair decision.
Style suggestion, go for the samuri top knot a lot of them were balding, but did that stop them no, therefore the top knot seems a good choice
