There was some talk a while back about prenatal vitamins
and whether they'd help hair growth. Looking for results
on one's hair would most certainly be a very long-term
experiment, but I figured since fingernails are the same
material as hair, perhaps some effects could be noticed
much more rapidly on the nails than the hair.
From past experimentation, I know that my nails get to
right about the same length every time (2/8 of an inch)
before they hopelessly crack and chip. While taking the
prenatal vitamins, however, my thumbnail (after a while,
I could only deal with one nail being so ridiculously
long. One was bad enough- I don't know how some people
deal with ten of them.) got to 5/8 of an inch, and only
needed a little filing about three times. So the vitamins
definitely seem to help strengthen the nail (and, presumably,
the hair, also). I did not test for growth speed- any
changes on that regard were not noticeable.
As far as my normal diet goes, I seldom eat red meat (plenty
of chicken and turkey), and I always go in big on fruits and
veggies.
I can't say my hair is growing faster with the pre-natal vitamins, but it sure seems my beard is! I wish I had charted its growth beforehand, but in any event I feel like I am trimming it about twice as often to keep it the one-inch length I prefer.
It's a lot easier to see an inch of growth on something that is an inch long to begin with, than it is on something that is more than a foot long. So I can't say for sure what the effect of the vitamins has been on my hair. Of course, my hope is that the stuff rooted in the scalp, as well as the face, is growing faster, too!

The power of suggestion is amazing!! Try reading the label on the pre-natal vitamins and you will find that tey are about 80% of the strength of regular adult vitamins as many vitamins are toxic in large doses. Other than that there may be a little extra calcium. Save your money for minoxidil and finisteride!!

Hi,
I have been using these vitamins for tree months , which maybe is
a little bit short to calculate some results , but however
I noticed NO hair growth speed-up.
I measured the lenght of a grey hair in front which I had cut at
5 mm lenght before using the vitamins.
I measured the lenght of this hair every month , and there was
no extra hair growth. My hair grows exactly 12 mm each month
and it stays that way , with or without these vitamins.
However I'm continuing measuring the lenght (I stopped using the
vitamins lost month) , to see if it grows faster in summer then in
winter , since I read different opinions on some internet sites.
At the end of this year I can give anyone my results , to see
how hair actually grows.
Best regards ,
Ronny
Guys, you should not be taking prenatal vitamins, this is not their purpose. If you want to take some extra nutrients to help you hair and nails grow try a vitamin supplement specifically for that purpose, they're widely available, just look around where you got the prenatals, or simply add more B,C,E, kelp, and omega fatty acids to your diet. You do not need the extra iron in prenatals and they're quite expensive for what they contain. Prenatal vitamins are a way to replenish the drain a baby puts on a woman's body during pregnancy, they are to prevent a deficiency, not to provide extras, its the hormones that make her hair grow super fast and unless you're able to get pregnant, I don't think you can replicate those.
Best wishes to all,
Dawn
