Anyone ever notice that all Asians have beautiful straight hair? Hooow about Mexicans? Anyone ever wonder what kind of gene determines what type of hair these races have? My hair is dark, long and straing like an Asians and Im thankful for that. No one in my family has my hair. Its nice being the only one with straight hair. The only thing is though that I am of Puerto Rican and Spanish descent. Most Puerto Ricans I see have coarse or wavy hair so I guess Im one of the lucky ones
Congrats, on your long straight hair. I'm an Asian myself, and my hair, which would be elbow-length if straight, is merely about 3 inches below shoulder-length.
Many spaniards have straight hair, since it's no real own rase people have different types of hair. But how it is in in latin-America, I don't know...
What's so lucky about not having course, wavy hair? My fiance is Puerto Rican and I love his hair. Its growing long and is thick and frames his face beautifully. I can't speak for Asians, but from my historical knowledge, many Spanish mixed with the Moors when they had taken over Spain. Also in Puerto Rico there was much mixing of the races between the Spanish and the Indians as well as European settlers and Africans. I don't know much about genes, but they are affected by the environment, nutrition and climate. It would be interesting to get an indepht view of the situation.

I'm Asian and I have the strangest thick, coarse, wavy hair... strange considering everyone else in my family has stereotype-straight hair.. (except my mother--slight wave when long).. my stylist commented that people who didn't know me might think I'm mixed..

I agree with you that certain Asians such as the Chinese, Japanese and Koreans generally have straight beautiful hair but Asians from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka don't all have straight hair. Some have straight hair and sometimes it is really impressive, while others have wavy and sometimes curly hair.
A few nights ago I saw some Southern Indian("East" Indian)longhairs and they were super.
In Malaysia, the Malaysia, the ethnic Malays like to have long hair more than other ethnic groups and they have lovely hair, though like the Indians, they don't always have straight hair.
The other night I met a Burmese friend I had not met for nearly a year and boy, his hair was at least down to his shoulder blades and it was so lovely that even his girlfriend commented how beautiful it was. His hair was longer than his girlfriend's hair.
He is also rather animated when he speaks and its a treat to watch his hair move about.

Don't forget the Filipinos man. We also have beautiful hair. :)
