Its weird, because when I was a kid I had really straight hair. Everyone in my family thought I was lucky b/c they all have wavy hair. I used to want wavy hair. When I let it grow long, it became bushy and wavy. I believe this was due to years of gel and trying to make it wavy, that eventually it took this form. Now I have been letting my hair grow for about 10 mths and its almost shoulder length. I recently got my hair straightened out and its looking much better. The only thing is though Im scared to get it wet b/c it will go back to being wavy again. The way I figure is to wash my hair as very little as possible and blow dry it very often. My mother says this will ruin and burn my hair. I think it will condition my hair to be straight again. Dont get me wrong, my hair doesnt smell but I just really want to have my hair like a Natiove American like I did when I was young, Any thoughts or solutions to my problem?
You can get products to protect your hair from heat when styling it, and also to help straighten it. I like Redken Hair Straightening Balm. I'd suggest trying that and following the directions.
