Okay, I've suffered having my ears stick out all my life, they're not big, they just sorta stick out. They don't stick out really far, but far to the point where it bugs me with short hair. Now, I'm 14, and I have my hair growing down around my ears and everything but I'm worried about the end result. Will my hair be able to completely cover my ears? I want it about neck length, but I'am still worried.
Can someone give me an answer as to what to do in this situation? Anyone been through it?
I dont think anyone can guarantee that they will but I would think the answer would be yes. What type of hair do you have if its fairly thick I would think your ears would be covered when it got long.
Yes no matter how large your ears are your hair will COMPLETELY cover them when it ALL gets to "neck" length. At first it may seem that the hair won't completely cover your ears. This is because hair doesn't all grow at the same time so for many months after your hair first reaches your neck it will contine to get thicker and thicker. Eventually it will cover your ears. Having said all that, I have two more bits of news for your. First, you may find that once your hair is long enough to tuck behind your ears it will make them appear smaller. Second, it is very common for young people to have protruding ears. I did. You have many years of growth ahead of you and it is most likely that by the time you reach your early twenties your ears will have found their adult position alongside your skull. That's exactly what happened with my ears. The best advice I can give you is to eat a lot of high-quality food and get plenty of sleep. That will do more for your ears that any amount of hair growth. Good luck!
Again your not alone, I still suffer with same "jug ear problem". But your hair can easily completely cover your ears. But also whilst its growing out, it'll gain more volume around your ears. This will reduce the amount they appear to stick out.
YES! Just let your hair continue to grow. Really.........nothing to worry about. All should end-up fine.
There is the Will Smith answer of course.
Your ears are part of you. Enjoy them. Where is it written that people have to have mean nasty flat miserable little ears?
I have huge ears, that stick right out. When I was 11 I got hell and damnation from other kids about them. Until it dawned on me to say: "Yes, I have big ears. All the better to hear you with. I like them because they're part of me and I really like me. I'm sorry you have such miserable flat little ugly deformed ears, but I guess you'll learn to live with it."
The kids that were giving me a hard time hated that, but tough.
Now I'm older, and I won. I still have my ears and my pride. The other kids have... whatever they want to have. I'm better looking, too!
Be proud,
Ngaire
Don't worry, when your hair gets long enough to reach mid-ear, it will start to cover them. At first it will cover them from the front, and when the top layer is long enough it will just fall over your ears. Probably having thick hair helps because if your hair's thin it tends to fall flatter against your head, whereas thick hair can poof out a little. Also, if you gel your hair you could just shape it to cover your ears.
These pics are about a month old, and my hair has already grown enough that you would never now I've got big ears.
