I am currently growing my hair out. It is varying lengths all over, but generally about 5" long. How long does hair have to be before it fits in a decent (not necessarily perfect) ponytail. I can't wait!
Thanks!
I guess 5" could fit into a an imperfect pony tail, but I think the hair from the hairline above your forhead will have to be long enough to fit into the hair tie at the back.
BTW. I can never get a perfect pony tail since my hair keeps breaking.
Well, that's another story.
Cheers
Charles
I think this would have to do with the size of your head and your hairline. I consider myself to have a larger head, so I figure I need at least about 12 inches (1 foot) for my front hair to reach a hair tie. I, too, am at the 5-inch stage.
From what I've read, you end up with your hair tie initially higher on the back of your head until it grows out, too.

I've been able to put my hair into a ponytail for two months and I've been growing mine from a standard male haircut for two years. The hair from my forehead doesn't quite make it into the ponytail holder if I pull it straight back, so I have to pull it around the side of my head.
