Folks,
Lets take a break from all this talk about discrimination against long haired men and share a little long hair humour.
This joke which I wrote in 1992 is called:-
ONE EVENING IN VANCOUVER
One summer evening, Jack a zoologist and Jill a management
consultant were having an evening out in the Vancouver West End.
It was a typical laid back evening, quite typical of Vancouver.
Jack was sipping a Granville Island Lager and Jill was drinking a
Scotch and gazed around at the many couples walking by and
Jill commented:-
"You know Jack, I'm really fascinated at how many of the
boyfriends in Vancouver have longer hair than their
girlfriends.
"In management studies, women in positions of authority are advised to have short hair so as to project that image of authority.
"It could turn out that in time to come, these
couples will get married and there will be many henpecked,
long haired husbands under the thumbs of bossy, short haired
wives."
Jack replied:-
"So! Thats your management consultant's opinion, eh!. Well I'll give you a zoologist's opinion."
"Male lions, tigers and most male birds have lusher plumage than their female counterparts. Just look at the male peacock which raises its long tail feathers into a fan when performing the mating dance."
"I'd say men were supposed to have longer hair anyway, if not for mud-headed social attitudes which dictate otherwise.
"Ya're not gonna henpeck me honey!."
Jill said:-
"I'd sure like to see one of them longhairs do a mating dance like the peacock."
To which Jack replied:-
"You don't need one of them longhairs to show you honey! I don't have no hair like them longhairs honey but a little later tonight, I give you a demonstration of..."
Great story, Charles!
Animal behavior is kind of a hobby of mine, and there are two recurring gender-based observations that I've made:
Often, the male of the species will look more "showy"
The female is usually stronger, a leader, and more cunning
Examples: elephants- herds have Matriarches
bees- hives governed by a Queen
lions- females more aggressive
And remember, Eve was much more daring than Adam. He just followed suit in eating the forbidden fruit!
I don't know if there's any validity to this, and I don't even know if it has a place on this baord, but I've always been intrigued.
Boy, I hope that's not true; I like longhaired women! :^0
