Is there any hope that gay men will sport long or longer hair? Are there any guys here who post who are gay and proud of their longer hair? Will there ever be an end to the boring buzz cuts for gays? I hope there will be some answers.
Thanks...and I'm sorry if anyone is offended by my search.
Just do a Google search: gay longhaired men
Yeah... ME!
I live in Southern California and I can tell you the younger gay guys are sporting longer hair, they aren't sure how to do it yet, still trying to use all the same products they used with short spikey hair. Its the older guys who will fight it mostly beacuse of hair loss. I don't think it will ever be like it was in the 60's - the 80's but mid length is already more common in the young. I have always kept my semi long hair and will always keep it that way. But I deffinently feel left out of the norm.

On the other hand, that's what they said about short hair in the '70s. And look what happened. I suspect people are finally starting to realize that this "neo-retro" trend over the past couple of decades has gotten really out of hand. And what with *That '70s Show* and the *Lord of the Rings* films (even though those are all wigs except for one boy) letting out the secret that girls like beautiful boys after all, the future at least looks brighter. That may not help us dudes who like Beautiful Rock Dudes ourselves as much as it might, but every little bit helps. Having a good attitude helps, too--say something (like "Long hair is coming back!") enough and people'll start to believe you!
Hi Eric:
I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm not an official longhair yet, but my hair is definitely longish (more like Pete Yorn in this photo). It's been a long time since a guy has hit on me, but I've been hit on by a lot of cute girls in recent months...even in gay bars! (Hey, it's still flattering!)
Will long hair ever become popular among gay men? Actually, I hope it doesn't, because I like being different, and I like guys who march to the beat of a different drummer. And in the gay community, a guy with long hair is certainly bucking tradition.
And for what it's worth, I've been dating a really incredible guy for six weeks...and he's a longhair!
Cheers,
Jeremy
PS: In case it doesn't post, the Pete Yorn photo is at http://www.peteyorn.com/images/py_virgin.jpg.
I haven't posted here for a while, but myself and my partner are both gay longhairs. We both have mid-back length black hair. I haven't had a haircut in alittle over 4 years and have no intention of cutting it. There are a number of gay longhair sites on the web, and although we are a small minority, I think that longhir is gradually coming back in the gay world also
Well, if you watch the Fab Five on Queer Eye there is no hope for longhaired gay men. They always seem to want to cut every longhair they see. Then again, who knows. All I know is that there are very few of us with long hair but I have seemed to notice more and more coming around. Perhaps the tide is turning! I certainly hope so...long hair on a guy is a big turn on for me!
Take care and keep it growin!
Brett
Sure, I used to work in a bar when I was a student it held a Gay Night on the first Monday of every month, (kind of a tradition that in British Clubs) It was one of the best nights to work - purely because the atmosphere was so relaxed (not your usual testosterone tension.)
I remember seeing loads of guys with long hair - (I'm going back to 1998 here, but I don't think that makes much difference.) OK it wasn't the trend but it was as prevently amognst the Gay crowd as it was with the straight crowd.
Yes, there is! Take a look at http://www.rdrop.com/~dognut/gaylonghair.html
- you'll find 500+ gay/bi longhairs from all over the world, including myself! (the picture of me is really not up to date, now my hair is much longer - a more recent pic is at http://home.arcor.de/yadgar/khyberspace/yadgar-e_text.html)
See you in Khyberspace!

I am a gay man...I have a 5" ponytail.
Eric, there are a half-dozen Web sites where gay and bi longhairs stay in touch with each other. The two largest are The Dognut (http://www.rdrop.com/~dognut) and the BROS Online group on Yahoo! (http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/BROSonline).
