Went to Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival this weekend. It is a huge environmental festival in Croton NY. Saw more long haired guys there than ever in one place before. Loose, straight, curly, ponytails, braids, pigtails, even a Topsytail. Felt good not to be the only gray ponytail around. Really felt like I was among friends.

Could you please tell me what a topsytail is ?
Never heard of it.

These days, the word "Topsytail®" is similar to "hoola hoop®". It is a remarkably simple invention of something cheap to make that made the inventor millions. Used as a frequent example in how to run a business or how to make a successful invention.
With a Topsytail®, you take a ponytail, thread it through the Topsytail® in the same way you do with a needle threader and thread, then take the pointed end of the Topsytail® and poke it through the end of the ponytail for another style. You can achieve this style in another way: divide the hair into two equal sections, twist one section clockwise and the other anticlockwise. Hold them together and add a ponytail holder.
I guess now topsytail now refers to the ponytail style made with a Topsytail®.
Since you mentioned it...
A local lady here in Dallas made a fortune selling those things, but I have no trouble making a Topsytail®-style ponytail without one. I make a relatively loose ponytail, then poke my two longest fingers up through the bottom, above the holder. I pull the tail through with my fingers, then snug it up a bit. I looks like about the same style.
How cute!!
