I think it really cool!
check it out if you haven't already
well done PaleHunter
2nd this..... love the japan vid....its on my top 5 places to go before i die.
Hey, thanks! That is nice of you to say. Japan was so cool...I'm studying Japanese so I can go back and do things like order food without forcing the poor waiters to tear their minds in half making sure they understood what I wanted.
Actually...this is related to the hair site cuz their prime Minister Koizumi Junichiro is the only major politician I know of who has hair down to his ears. I'm not sure why, but I noticed far more guys sporting longer hair there then I do on a normal day here.
lol, sounds cool...I should probably do that myself ...then I could translate my tattoo an know for sure it doesnt say wanker.
Yeah we had this series of documentaries on japanese life about a year ago on tv...it was so cool, but yeah where a lot of long haired guys on it...plus dont they all have like poker straight hair so its so easy for them to grow out?
Hey awesome site! I'm thinking of going to Japan to teach ESL after I graduate (or if not, I'd love to go on a one month journey like you did), which will be in 2006, I'm in 2nd year now. BUT, I'm growing my hair at the moment, it's down to my chin, and obviously I'm wondering whether I'll be able to get hired to teach there with it? Did you see many foreigners around with long hair (who might be ESL teachers)? Thanks! I really don't want to grow my hair, have it long for a year and then need to cut it!
I reckon you'll be just fine. I taught ESL in south korea, and was hardly clean cut at the time. As for Japan, d00d, with all due respect to gaijin (outsider, see foreigner) roaming around there...there are some freakey looking people making a living in the land of the rising sun.
My brother and I always enjoyed seeing other gaijin because more often than not it seemed to us they were probably misfits in their own country who had escaped to Japan where they'd be ultra-cool. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely freaky and a misfit too, but my observation still stands. You'd see a hot japanese girl, and sure enough, a gaijin who would NEVER have landed a girl like that back home.
Hair in particular was very very interesting. Because so many foreigners wanted to EXTRA stand out (which is totally unnecessary to work for) they would dye their hair. And let me tell you, it looked AWFUL. I'd say bout half the gaijin I observed had dyed their hair blonde in some fashion or another. Sometimes it was really clear their hair was black to begin with. They just wanted to stand out so bad... Especially the girls cuz they apparently think all japanese men would betray their wives and country for a blonde girl. Strangely...tons of german girls...and I was like, "Frou, puh-LEASE."
As for the Japanese themselves...if you go to work for a bank I'm sure its gunna be about the same situation as here. But in general, they are way way more progressive in their fashion sense. From head to foot, I was so jealous. Basically, if you wear hair nicely then you will be in good standing. Just try to eliminate most of the dirt and debris from your hair and clothes before you go out :). For ESL, (at least in S.Korea) they are far more concerned with your skin color than anything else...even your ability to properly teach.
Hope that helped and wasn't too insulting to anyone in particular!
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the advice. I might have to e-mail you sometime with other questions. I'm from Toronto by the way, but I go to school in Montreal. I saw your Vancouver pictures, and I'm interested in going there for grad school (after a year or two in Asia), although I've never even been west of Ontario in Canada! See you later!
