Hey all, I've been gone for a while but I have a question...
For those of you using L'Oreal VIVE serum, you say it makes your hair smoother and softer right? But anyway, my question is: Do you find it reduces your hair's volume, increases your hair's volume, or does nothing to it at all? Thanks.
It reduces my hair's volume. It makes it smoother and straighter and makes it lay *very* flat. My hair is naturally very straight. VIVE serum removes any last bit of wave. It's a nice smooth look.
Is this a silicone serum?.... if it is then it definately will reduce your hairs volume by adding weight, and also smoothing out the cuticle so that the hairs lay better againt each other so there are less air pockets. They are afterall used to straighten your hair, tho I guess they give the illusion of softness. Also you should use a clariifing shampoo once in a while with these cause normal poo' cant remove all the 'cones from your hair.... if ya dont your cond' will stop working properly and you'll become more reliant on the serum... its a vicious cycle : )
I don't have the bottle handy (I'm away in Barbados) to see if it has silicone but I wouldn't be surprised. But you hit on one of the negatives of VIVE serum I hadn't mentioned. It does build up in the hair. Hardly surprising but it means I don't like to use it every day, just on special occaisions. Oddly it works very well just after I wash my hair but I'm reluctant to use it then because it really shortens my time between washes.
