So i've been having these dreams lately where someone keeps cutting off my hair, leaving me with a dodgy crew cut. After which you can imagine im devastated! I guess in my dreams its all a bit too much cause I then wake up in a cold sweat and for those few moments where reality has yet to kick in my hands make straight for my head, and im relieved my hair is still there!
Perhaps this is my subconscious' twisted way of informing me im becoming a little bit too attached to my hair, an growing it out has become an obssession.
Anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?!...
Be thankful that it is only a dream. I've been waking up to the same nightmare for the last week ever since I (foolishly) cut my hair. It had been growing for two and a half years and I had a 18" ponytail. I've now got a short (1/4" ) taper on the back and sides with about 4" or 5" on top. I always has short hair (crewcuts, flattops, etc.) prior to letting it grow. I will be getting it cut again in a couple of weeks...probably 1/4" all over including my beard and start the growing process all over again. Fortunately my hair grows faster than most other people's hair...about 3/4"~ 1" a month.
Learn from my mistake....DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR unless you are willing to suffer the consequences!!!
I had a bizarre "dream-within-a-dream" last week where I dreamed I cut off my hair, then woke up to find out I had indeed cut my hair...then I really woke up to find out it was just a dream. (Note to self: no more margaritas before bed.)
Once or twice, that I can remember. Quite the relief when you woke up to find all of your hair still in place, eh?
;)
I've had the same kind of dream once or twice, and they have only happened since I decided I wanted long hair. I think it may be represent a general fear of 'society' kind of forcing me into something...holding me down, cutting my hair, taking away my individuality, that sort of thing. That is to say, my haircut dreams are never of me happily plopping down in a barber's chair and saying take it all off. They are instead the kind of dream where at the end I'm screaming in rage and frustration.
Does that sound similar to how you feel?
hhmmm... yes actually that does sound disturbingly accurate. Except in my dreams im actually being held down whislt someone is cutting my hair, which does result in rage and frustration....almost like im being held down and my identity is being taken away from me.... Or maybe they're doing me a favour, perhaps i've supressed a certain part of myself which ive grown accustomed to like my hair and so having this cut away against my will would cause frustration..... Perhaps im being told it is time for a trim whether I like it or not.
Amazing that my subconscious would communicate with me through my hair...it knows me too well : )
I had a similar dream once, but I was afterwards castrated. . ..you think YOU woke up in a cold sweat! (needless to say, before reality kicked in, my hands did not check my hair first!)
I hade one last night!! I dreamed i shaved my head but it kept growing back. Wierd!!
Hmm, in my recurring dream I'm going bald. Somehow, at some point I look in a mirror and I've got short hair on the sides and I'm bald on top. But the really weird thing is that it's not like someone cut my hair, it's just how I look. Different. I have no idea what this means. (BTW, I'm 45 and unlikely to lose my hair if I haven't by now.)
Know exactly how you feel have had my share of the nightmares and I think your correct about them happening so frequently because of hair obsessiveness.
I've only had a dream about having over 3 feet long awesome black mane. I wouldn't call it a nightmare :) When I woke up I was truly disappointed.
Nightmares can mean lots of things.
Dreaming dreams about getting your hair cut
may have nothing to do with your hair at all.
Maybe your subconscious is just 'picking' on your hair
because you are obsessed with it?!

I think a spell checker or an AutoReplace has corrupted every reference to the wor Waking an introduced an 'n'...
Makes for a hillarious read... but sounds like something that most guys grow out of aged 13-14. lol!
