how many of you guys out there play an instrument or are musicians?
I sing and play the guitar. I've always wanted to be in a band, which I'd like to be called Johnny Rocket and the Rockets, or Awesome-saurus Rex. Nobody, and I mean Nobody, had better steal those names, btw. :(
I've been playing guitar for three years now.
I've progressed nicely. I've got all the scales down, can make up any solo on the drop of the hat. I'm beginning to sound like Van Halen. =]
I'm in a band - called Panda - that's been doing great lately on the local "Scene".
- Brian
I sing in a band unfortunatly called Rising Thunder. Despite the name the music isnt half bad at all. I sound somwhere between Layne Staley and Scott Weilend (you know, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots).
Im also considering learning to play the bass.

Weiland even. Or Wieland. Yeah well you know.
Upright or guitar? I'm always amazed that bass players are always in demand. The bass would be my instrument of choice, and I've considered picking it up. But I haven't decided whether to start on guitar of upright.
I play guitar, I would like to learn piano as well.
I play classical guitar. I've been studying 8 months now.
I'm a self confessed musician, I'm learning guitar and piano, and can play viola, saxophone and violin,
violin I'm best with although I prefer guitar slightly more.
I've also got perfect pitch hearing,
that is I can tell by listening to a piece of music what key signature it is in and how many sharps or
flats it contains:)
Guitar and vocals in a semi death metal/thrash metal kind of band.
I used to sing in a band called Toke, although it was a long time ago.
I play the piano somewhat, AND sing "barbershop music", both in a chorus and a barbershop quartet.
Accoustic and electric guitar for a little over a year now. I study a wide variety of music.
umm, when I was younger i took piano lessons and i have started to teach myself guitar and i can keep a decent beat on a set of drums.
I am a guitar player...I have a Les Paul, Strat, Taylor 12 string, an Ovation 6 string and just recently bought a midi keyboard so I can learn to play EVERYTHING!!!

P.S.: Mesa Boogie amps rock!!!
how many of you guys out there play an instrument or are musicians?
I've been playing the guitar for seven years and the clarinet for about ten. I don't mind playing the bass guitar. My main passion is singing, and I've had some training, particularly for musical theatre showtunes.
I sing with my rock band at university and I'm very pleased with how things have come along. We've been playing together for about six months now and our first gig is coming up in a few weeks.
How about you, Phil?
i play guitar, been playing since 96'. i've never been a serious player up until a few years ago. i've also been giving singing a shot.
Guitarist, but can and would also like to play bass
If it's an instrument, I can play it.
Well, not everything, obviously. I can't play the violin with a darn. Never could. Other than though, I play pretty much everything (guitar, drums, keyboards, flute, sax, etc).
Piano....mostly classical.
I have a side business as a Piano Technician (Tuner/Repair/Restore).
Classical Musician and Composer. Instruments: Piano, Violin, Pipe Organ and Harpischord.
At last, someone who plays the violin lol!
Have you done any exams in it?
Sorry........but no exams on either Violin or Viola. Exams however at one time on Piano as well as Organ followed by many many professional recitals. Mainly I am known (mostly in Europe of all places) as a Composer. Ignored here in the US totally. The French firm of Leduc + Cie (one of my publishers) once told me: "A Man is never discovered in his own country." In history however this has not always held true. The critics here knock me as sounding too much like Debussy or Ravel. I take it as a compliment however.............and besides, ANYBODY can be a Critic. It is so easy. I have yet to see a monument erected to ANY Critic.
Violin is the weakest of my talents as a player. But, I have composed a Sonata "Pour Violin et Harpe" as well as one String Quartet using Violins 1 and 2 of course. (Writing for a Quartet is the most difficult of ALL for me.) There are a number of pieces for String Orchestra as well as full Orchestra that naturally have to make use of the Strings.
Nice to hear from a Violinist. Thanks! :-)
I play percussion as a hobby. Would like to get in a band, but I don't have enough time to do so.
What kind of percussion? Percussion is very broad.
Oh yes. :) You're right.
I mainly stick to drumset.
Guitar and Mandolin
I play Guitar and Bass Guitar - though admitted not very well. I consider myself Beginner-Intermediate. But hey that's good enuf for rock n roll.
I play guitar & Bass.I would really like to get into a band.
I allready replied but I don't see it anywhere. What I said was I play the didjerido, mouth harp, harmonica and the bugle. I have a fife but it...well it doesn't sound....Ok, forget the fife.
I play cello (seemingly the only one here!) and compose. And teach music theory.
I play the guitar (am told I'm good but I prefer to think otherwise) and have wanted to form a band for some time now. I also played the piano in my younger days and still do from time to time.
Piano but not professionally.
I play cello, piano and trumpet. I'm in a small orchestra on the cello and play piano for synagogue on Saturdays.
