I just had an idea, although I'm sure if it worked well that someone else would have thought it up long ago.
But could shampoos designed for kids be better for our hair, since they are less harsh? I know that they are designed to be easier on the hair, but I have a feeling if they really worked better more adults would use them.
Resonance told me he uses baby shampoo. I'm still skeptical though, because I was told it's the same as putting soap in your hair and now I hear it causes cancer (which is probably untrue but still makes me nervous about trying it).
I meant that I have heard rumours it can cause cancer and even though I don't believe it, part of me is still put off trying it because of that.
Bah, everything causes cancer now adays ;p
In theory yes...however most baby shampoo's are misleading as to look at their ingredients reveals they still have detergents i.e sodium laureth sulphate which is probably the most damaging thing in a regular formulated shampoo. However there are sulphate free baby shampoo's avail, tho you may as well opt for an adult version of a sulphate free as it will most likely be easier to obtain. Mop c system is one such range and is freely avail online, tho the addition of orange oils proved this to be more irritating than a regular shampoo for me. Likewise is the Masty range which is more beneficial yet more elusive depending on your geographical location. As for soap causing cancer this is most likely very much untrue, and washing with soap is a valid option, tho be aware most soaps are the cleansing equivalent of a clarifying shampoo. One soap which may be worth investigation would be dove soap as it would be less stripping.
One shampoo for kids that I KNOW is especially nice from personal experience is "L'OREAL KIDS extra gentle 2-in-1. No tears! No Knots! No split ends! Comes in a plastic container shaped like a fish and a variety of aromas. It sure works instant wonders in the detangeling dept as it is used. Follow-up with a good conditioner of course.
Perhaps others on this board have tried it? Am not sure if there are any of the so-called "bad" chemicals in it.
I have only known of it for a month and only shampoo once a week. However, because my hair is getting so long now, I am beginning to have troubles (though minor) with tangles. Aussie shampoo doesn't seem to cut the mustard anymore in my particular case. But this "Kids stuff?" Amazing!
In fact, that is the last product I washed my hair with. I like it too.
