I've always wanted my hair to be just an inch above my shoulders. But my hair seems to not grow too quickly, or is it in my imagination? I did start progress pics though. Any advice for hair care?

Well hair growing can be painstakingly slow. Hair usually grows about 0.5 inches per month, though some of us lucky ones can be around double that - also depends if your hair is curly or wavy or straight - straight hair takes less time as it's growing straight down.
I just wanted to say if you want to grow it, then grow it. No if's and's or but's. There's nothing to lose. Most people have an 'awkward phase' to go through, where your hair looks really crap and does nothing for you, but so what - I've looked crap for a few weeks now, and it's growing long enough for me to mess about with.
We're all here to support you and give advice if we can. If you want good condition hair, there's lots of tips - the rest of these guys probably know more than me, but you can use conditioners, oils, ease of the hairdryer, use silica/horsetail exrect tablets, take vitamin D and E... all sorts of things to help your hair grow in good condition, rather than a frizz-ball.
Anyway, keep in touch, and let us know how things are going. Another helpful tip is to find a growing buddy (sounds kinda gay i know) but if you have a friend or someone you can talk to whose hair is roughly the same length as yours, it gives you more motivation, rather than reaching that point where you just cut your hair, meaning months of wasted time.
Good luck, and speedy growing!

his statement, (at least in my eyes) is far from on target: ("I've looked crap for a few weeks now, and it's growing long enough for me to mess about with.")
Wolfeyes..............your hair looks and is doing great! Many guys just starting would give ANYTHING to have what you have now.
One is always their own worst critic so often. (Myself included!)
You're right, I forget to think about things like that before I speak. I guess I think it looks crap cos it's not the length I want yet.
My best friend is going bald and yet I always complain to him about my grey hairs... it's so easy to lose perspective!

Yes, most likely so. BUT............you DO have some great length and so far it's looking A+! Wish there was a grade higher. :-)
In any event, the wait seems endless...........but there just isn't anything you can do about that one. But the rewards in the end!!!!!!! Just wait......one year from now you won't believe how fantastic your hair will be looking. Just kind of "go with the flow" as your hair grows out and if possible "enjoy" all of the various stages encountered during the "Awkward Stage." (You can "invent new styles" as you go through this stage that look best depending upon what your hair is doing at the moment.)
One thing of interest: you have in your mind a certain look, but anyone else that sees you just sees you and has no idea that inside you are anxious for much longer hair or a certain look. So, they think nothing of it as you think nothing of seeing all kinds of people ea. day.
I think you are really going to love having long hair.
All the best-
Justin
Thanks for the support, Justin. I know what you mean - I should enjoy all the stages, especially since it's like watching a kettle boil, or paint dry. At least if I can forget about the wait and enjoy each kind of stage, it won't seem like it takes as long.
I'll keep posting.

I don't want to make a big song and dance about it, but it would be nice if you didn't assume that the people here are all straight.
Really sorry, mookie, no offense intended at all. And I have nothing against anyone in that way.
As I mentioned today in another post, I often talk away and use coloquial slang, not realising people won't understand what I mean - and saying gay is one of those things.
I have plenty of gay friends and say that in front of them quite often... guess it seems more offensive when you don't know a person...
But back to my point, I'm sorry... shall be more careful of my words in future.

I'll let you off this time... :-)
