dear friends
this is my first post here. so first up a BIG hello to everybody :)
i have been growing my hairs from 1/2 inch long since november 2003. it has now reached more than shoulder length at the back and below my ear lobes at the sides and almost below my eyebrows at the front. i have a goatee too btw :p
my dream as a child was to have long hairs, but somehow due to several reasons i could not until nov 2003 that is ;). now i am determined to get my hairs loooooooong.
i have a problem with dandruff. i am very prone to it. also my hair kinda curls back up at the sides and back (maybe due to lack of weight ???)
i would like some advice on how to keep the dandruff at bay while at the same time having a shiny and silky hair like what i see on other long haired men and women too.
my goal to get my hair silky has not been a sucess till now. i have tried various shampoos + conditioner etc. i am using loreal vive shampoo + conditioner from the past 1 month, but it still dont work.
any advice on the dandruff + the straight smooth and healthy hair is really appreciated.
thank you very much and looking forward to a response :)
best regards

Hey, welcome to the board. I saw this post and wondered, why isnt my hair at the back past shoulder length, im a little confused. I have been growing since 26th november 2003 and if I look up at the sky and pull my hair then it's below my shoulder blades. Is this what you mean, or does yours normally below shoulder length. I would not recommend using any harsh anti dandruuff shampoo's, or if you do, sparingly. I too, used to suffer badly with dandruff until I started to grow my hair long and now I hardly get any. The longer your hair is, the less dandruff you will suffer from. My hair is about as long as yours now.
A good anti dandruff shampoo I used to use was Nizorelle. Also Alphosil 2 in 1, but it is only available on perscription.
You will need to take great care with your hair to make it healthy looking. Stay away from most drugstore brands of shampoo's as they contain silicones, which coat the hair and buildup can cause your hair to look and feel bad. A good brand would be Aussie, many of us use it here, which does not contain silicones, and always ALWAYS use conditioner on your hair after shampooing, Aussie 3 minute Miracle deep conditioner is what I use.
Hope I was some help:)
yes, this is what i meant, when i pull it back, it falls to shoulder. sorry if i was misleading with my sentence before :)
of course, thanks for the input. am gonna try aussie and see how it works for me.
thanks again.
